I'm confused about this whole "letting your 20 year old daughter..." thing. By 20 she can vote, move out of your house, incur debt, join the military, get a passport, go to a country where the drinking age is below 20, and pretty much whatever else they want. They are adults. You can advise adults, you can tell them you're disappointed in their decisions, you can even disown them, but "let" and it's converse "forbid" aren't in the possibility list.
As for dating, what we're supposed to go back to arranged marriages?! That's not happening.

If a daughter is doing all you say at age 20 (incurring debt, going anywhere she wants, voting) AND as long as she is totally emancipated (LIVING OUTSIDE of THE FAMILY HOME on her own)....then I agree with you....but if she's still at home, then there should be some "conditions" that come with the arrangement.
