We need a League of Free Nations

The United Nations, like the League of Nations before it, has failed to realistically confront the major problems that confront the world communnity. Worse, it is a magnet for imagined and petty grievances for tyrants and their advocates. The illusion of influence the United Nations gives to any regime, no matter how murderous or brutal, must end.

NATO too, has fallen into irrelevance, at least in the conduct of the war we need to wage across the Middle East and southern Asia. having engaged in a travesty in Kosovo, and forfeited influence over Iraq. The inclusion of France in any alliance only spells trouble.

Communism has been humbled; the virtues of markets are accepted as obvious in Russia and China. However, we should not forget the Cold War as it still, in truth, simmers on as a backdrop to the war on expansionist Arab tyrannies.

What is needed is a new League, one in which all members are pledged to the defense of freedom for all of mankind, everywhere.

We would have plenty of takers. The United Kingdom and Japan would instantly join, as would a bloc of nations in Europe stretching from the Baltic to Bulgaria, Spain, Portugal, and Italy, Australia, Israel, South Korea, India, and any other nation that is serious about respecting the freedom of the people it represents.

Such a bold move could open many possibilities. It could forthrightly deal with the problems of totalitarian regimes in an unapologetic manner. Taiwan could be admitted to a forum where China has no ability to silence it. France would no longer be able to make the free world twist at its whim.

The benefits of collaboration are too great to pass up.

I agree!

Also, one requirement for membership: The right to vote in the New League is contingent upon the right to vote of your citizens.(In a true democracy)

Concur. I think it should be an absolute requirement that all member countries give foreign aid ONLY to countries that have/are making a good-faith effort to establish genuine representative governments among their peoples.
