Excellent analysis.
My email is down, how about someone sending this link to Rush and some people at Fox?
This deserves a larger audience.

Nice job. I wish the mainstream media was as adept as you are. Letting the picture speak......

Why did Saddam fire his air-defense minister? It would make Hussein sense if the SAM had landed on something he cared a lot about, like a munitions store or something.
To: Landru
"Just this morning FoxNews reported the Iraqi General responsible for air defense was canned"
Again we apologise for the fault in the introduction. Those responsible for sacking the people who have just been sacked have been sacked.

Groundtruthing indicates the US cruise missiles come in horizontal as below in Baghdad,
corroborating that these trails above were left by Iraqi SAMs

Place your finger on the bottom of the plume to the left of the tall building. Trace the smoke trail up and over and down to the fire to the right of the tall building in the picture. Then, go eat your wheaties, you've shown yourself the strong circumstantial evidence that the launched SAM impacted back in Baghdad.

you've shown yourself the strong circumstantial evidence that the launched SAM impacted back in Baghdad. You're correct. It does show strong circumstantial evidence. It does not, however, show that it WAS a SAM that impacted back in Baghdad.

My two cents says that we dropped some bombs or cruise missiles on some Republican Guard positions and started some fires.
This set off some secondary explosions of missiles or rockets or tank rounds.
That is what we are seeing come back to earth in these pictures.
But this does definitely rule out our weapons as the cause.

Proof of their own SAM hitting Baghdad.....:-)
To: Rightwing Conspiratr1
In fact the trail could just as easily be one of our cruise missles coming over the horizon making adjustments in approaching the target. One clue is that our missiles would not start burning before they get to the target. The munitions are fused to detonate when they get where you wanted them to be - i.e. inside the building or bunker you are trying to blow up. Setting of munitions at altitude above your target makes for a nice fireworks display, but is not what you want to do to do damage.

Doesn't look like much of a horizon to be going up from the ground and then off to the side. Sorry, I'm not convinced that is a possible explanation.
I think this picture is important. Why was it moved to "chat"?

I think this picture is important. Why was it moved to "chat"? I havent the foggiest idea...its not Chat material...
First they stuck it in Breaking News...even though I hadnt classified it...then they yank it to Chat...Go figure
The guys are doing a great job but maybe they are a little overworked...
To: Diogenesis
..who else would believe this shallow pothole from our very own missile was a powerful American cruise missile impact?"
Heck, I do more damage than that every 4th of July!

I don't think it could be a cruise missile trail. The exhaust plume looks more like that for a solid propellant motor. Tomahawks use a turbofan engine for propulsion.
To: ChadGore
No. I just pulled the URL off of Diogenesis' thread. I did, however, notice that Fox sometimes runs the full clip as filler. The missile on the far right must not have armed. It looks like it didn't explode and the motor kept running after it hit the ground. You can see light from it reflected in the exhaust plume as it does a "Mother of All Chinese Ground Bloom Flowers" on the surface. : )

In all due respect we in the demolition business call those "kick outs". I dont buy that. The snakey trail from way behind the coalition strike point is not a kick out...Besides...I think ou would see trace plumes and trails from several more Kick outs...
With all due respect to your experience I think your wrong.
I think its SAM's fired blindly at coalitions forces and cruise missiles that just fell back into the city...
