Targeted Prayer

A call to prayer warriors to unite in "targeted" prayers - prayers aimed specifically at geographic areas of Iraq that are involved in heated battle (cities, towns, locales, objectives). Reason: In Old Testament God was specific in His instructions to those involved in armed conflicts. As we read or hear about battles going on in specific cities in Iraq or regions - we can unite to pray for the battles in these areas. We are not just fighting Saddam and his henchmen. There is a very real spiritual battle taking place because anywhere such evil has been allowed to fluorish as it has inside Iraq - "principalities, powers, and forces of darkness" take up residence in physical locales as well as inside the human beings dwelling there.

We are not able to defeat the legions of demons inside Iraq - but there is One who is MORE THAN ABLE to do so. We must engage in the conflict simply as being a front line prayer warrior - holding up a certain region before God in prayer and asking that the One who came to this earth to DESTROY THE WORKS OF THE DEVIL and who, while He was here, went from town to town, delivering people from the hosts of wickedness that indwelt them - displaying his supreme AUTHORITY OVER EVIL SPIRITS and DEMONS and SATAN himself - this One, Jesus Christ - and His Holy Angels would be present in power and authority to defeat the demonic hordes of certain specific locales involved in intense fighting.

Yes, we are praying for individuals in our military and for our general war effort and for the families of those involved and for our President and our leaders.

But we can also do STRATEGIC PRAYING FOR LOCALES in the "news" as we read/hear about setbacks for instance and/or areas needing breakthroughs - and that kind of praying is what I am encouraging with this post.

We know that we do not battle against flesh and blood but against powers and principalities and all the powers of darkness. WE ARE NOT ABLE TO DO ONE THING HERE BUT LIFT UP THE AREA IN PRAYER, PRAISING GOD FOR HIS DELIVERANCE OF THAT CITY, AND PLEADING FOR ITS OPPRESSED PEOPLE. It is GOD who is at work - and we are simply working "with God" - because "with God" all things are possible. And in Jesus Christ, all the promises of God are yea and Amen. We plead for the city of Basra to be delivered from the enemy - not just the physical enemy but from "the enemies of our souls". Oh, Lord, drive these demonic forces out by Your MIGHTY and YOUR POWER because at YOUR NAME, every knee shall bow and because YOU oh Lord, have been given all power and authority in heaven and on earth and under the earth. We Praise You, Lord Jesus Christ, for your victory over all the forces of darkness at the cross! We commit this city to you and all your legions of angels and ask that, by your grace, this city will be cleansed of the demons from hell which inhabit it. In the powerful name of Jesus, Amen!

Good morning. Thank you for the prayers - all excellent. And thank you all for being willing to "engage the enemy" through prayer.

"No weapon formed against you shall prosper". May we pray this for the innocent people of Basra and for the brave soldiers fighting to set them free? Dear Lord, let this Word take hold in that embattled city where the hosts of darkness have lived so long. We know that this City is a stronghold of satanic forces. Father, we hold up this city and ask again today that you would surround it and fill it with YOUR HOSTS OF HEAVEN and that you would banish the forces of darkness from that place and fill it instead with your HOLY LIGHT. Bring freedom for the captives held so long in that place. Bring safety and protection for all those longing for the light of freedom and deliverance from captivity. Bring strategic defeat of those forces which would continue to hold tight to that locale were it not for the HOSTS OF HEAVEN who are entered there. Thank you dear Father for the privilege of interceding for this city and its people living there and the people fighting to set it free. Thank you for hearing and answering our prayers and for placing your FORCES for LIGHT into that place and driving away - never to return - the powers and principalities that have been in power there. As the allies drive into that city and take care of the enemy - we pray that your HOLY ANGELS and CHARIOTS OF FIRE will be right there encircling and entering that city sending OUT OF THAT CITY any and all of the principalities and powers that are NO LONGER going to have full sway in that city. In the Name of the One who conquered death and satan on the Cross and who is the Risen, Conquering King of Kings and Lord of Lords! All Praise, Honor, Glory, Majesty, Strength be to HIM! AMEN!

Royal Marines storm Basra suburb

Please read the details of the action - God was definitely protecting these British Soldiers:

The tide is turning in Basra - please keep praying! We need total triumph in this the 2nd city - and God's forces of light driving out the forces of darkness and providing protection and deliverance for the Iraqi citizens and for the soldiers bringing freedom to that town - please continue to pray.

Soon, by God's great mercy and power in answer to prayer and from the great work of those fighting to deliver that town - we can shift to a new "targeted" locale.

Here are some amazing details of this battle:

But still good - wonderful news:

"The success of Operation James may now embolden senior commanders to order a full advance on the heart of Basra, a city believed to be controlled by a desperate pro-Saddam minority.

While there were some Royal Marine casualties from accidents in the battle for Abu Al Khasib, none was caused by enemy fire. Looking at the devastation around the town, that seemed astonishing....

But no matter how elaborate the Iraqi tank positions, nothing could stop 600 Royal Marines from 40 Commando advancing on foot in the early hours of Sunday supported by tanks, artillery and air power.

The Challenger 2 tanks from C Squadron the Royal Scots Dragoon Guards were crucial to the battle. "Plenty of rocket-propelled grenades were fired at our call signs but they simply bounced off the armour," said Capt Fraser McLeman, 26, from Stratford-upon-Avon, the leader of one of the tank troops.

After the battle, there was a buzz of excitement among the Royal Marines as groups exchanged stories. A physical training instructor sergeant was generally acclaimed after he was hit on his bullet-proof vest by enemy fire. The shot shattered the heavy ceramic plate in his vest but the sergeant continued to fight and even killed his attacker.

One British armoured vehicle was attacked by 70 rocket-propelled grenades but it was not destroyed and its occupants were unhurt.

A Royal Marine told of a grenade glancing off his helmet and another told of how an Iraqi colonel driving a car with a briefcase full of cash refused to stop and was shot dead. "I didn't know what to do with the money so I gave it to the kids, bundles of the stuff," the Royal Marine said."

PRAISE GOD FROM WHOM ALL BLESSINGS FLOW for His protection of these courageous British soldiers!!! And for His answers to prayers for this city's deliverance! Please continue to pray because we see that this city - even in this suburb - has been a home of demonic forces - read this:

"For the Iraqis the arrival of the British also appeared to be welcome news. British troops discovered evidence of the brutality of the regime in a police station in the suburb where they found what appeared to be a torture chamber.

"If any proof was needed of the nature of Saddam Hussein's regime then things like this give it," Lt-Col Gordon Messenger, the commanding officer of 40 Commando, said. "

This city has been a home for hell. God is cleaning it out and sending the demons fleeing. Please keep praying for the hosts of Heaven, God's mighty Angels, His chariots of Fire, The Almighty God to continue to drive out the demons just as the British are driving out (or killing) the demonically inspired Baath party and Fedaheen Guards and others who have based their lives on brutality and wickedness, enslaving and oppressing those around them in Basra.

(And, as usual, remember to put on the full armor of God each day - and plead the shed blood of Jesus over you, over your loved ones, over those brave soldiers fighting for freedom in Iraq, as you begin the work of prayer). Amen! Something else - came to me today is to pray for the God's heavenly hosts, his legions of Holy Angels to come and guard the borders of Iraq - Iran, Syria, Saudi Arabia, Turkey to keep out the hordes of Islamic extremists who may be finding their way to those border nations ready to pour into Iraq. May God set up a standard over which these forces of darkness cannot cross - and defend each border with His mighty Angels. Pray that kind of defense also around the waterways surrounding Iraq and our forces on the waters. And of course, continuing to pray a shield of protection over this nation as these forces are definitely trying to bring their destruction here. God is our shield and defender - we are to trust in HIM. Thanks be to God for all those working and fighting to deliver the Iraqi people from oppression and to protect our nation at home.
