This is my first time posting a thread, but this will make you feel wonderful.
I teach at a low-income school in CA and we wrote the soldiers letters of support. It is unedited.
Dear Soldier,
I know what you are doing is good. But, don't forget it is for our rights.
I hope you survive and come home safe. When you leave I will say a prayer and here it is.
When the sun goes down and everyone is sleeping,
if I hear a sound like things around me creeping, I look at the American flag and tell myself not to be scared.
I know that I am safe because you are there protecting us.

This letter showed me and everyone else I showed it to
that even a young child understands what we are doing,
why we are doing it, and whom really to thank.

You sure did a good job for your first post, and you are right, it is wonderful.

That was my intention, I just want everyone to know (and even I needed reminding)that the reason we are in Iraq is for our future. That boy who wrote the letter, is our future and he appreciates the sacrifice.

What a wonderful letter!!! I cried as I read it. Teachers have an awesome responsibility to instill patriotism in young minds. He certainly will grow up to protect the freedoms of America.

Thank you, first of all, for having your students write letters of support to our troops.
And, secondly, thank you for sharing with us this wonderful letter. How refreshing to know that there are children who understand .... they are our future.
