Too many people around here really need Charm School.

Y'know, I take that personally...

Not even a little problem...in fact, it reminds me to take that one to my FR homepage. Thanks.

Wish me luck.

At 2 am, I am going out for a covert manuever.

I am sick of all these NO WAR! signs that have popped up around here.

I got a bunch of poster board and wrote FREEDOM FOR IRAQ.

I will go out tonight and staple FREEDOM FOR IRAQ under the NO on the No War sign. So tomorrow they will all say NO FREEDOM FOR IRAQ.

I am prepared. I am all in black with my black hood. I have enough cash on me for bail, and my lawyer friend has been alerted. I live in such a small town, I can walk home from jail.

If you don't hear from me tomorrow, well I am in jail. But if I do go to jail, you better believe I will make sure I get my mug on TV to explain how horrible these people are to be against America, the troops, and the freedom of an oppressed people.

You know, sometimes I just can't take it anymore and I have to take action.

Excellent! I love clandestine missions. If any such signs pop up around here, I shall follow your noble example.

Good morning to all. First, let's get the hideous offspring out of the way:

HAS Chelsea Clinton found a replacement for boyfriend Ian Klaus? The two haven't been seen in public for a while, and although Clinton told People they're still together, she's been spending a lot of time with tuna heir Evan Metropolous; his girlfriend apparently is none too pleased. "I work with Evan's girl friend, Elena Russell," our spy says. "[She] is upset that he's been hanging out with Chelsea so much. She feels like there's something going on between the two since they talk a lot on the phone."

What is the attraction? Oh well. Of course, there's always news of H'wood dimbulbs and their mindless anti-war efforts.

DREW Barrymore made an impassioned plea for peace at an anti-war event in Hollywood Wednesday night before heading off to another rally - at a raunchy gay bar. At the "Global Vision for Peace" event held at the historic Talmadge estate in Los Feliz, Barrymore read aloud a letter from the Dalai Lama declaring that war "is not the solution" and calling for "global demilitarization."

Pedro Almodóvar, Beau Bridges, Jon Favreau, Jennifer Tilly and Marcia Gay Harden were also in attendance. Then at around midnight, Barrymore and a pal showed up at Fubar, a gay watering hole on Santa Monica Boulevard that features hard-core porn playing on video monitors. The bar's "Show Your [Bleep] for Peace" party was in full swing, and Polaroids of willing men's privates were posted on a wall. [So glad they truly appreciate the seriousness of war. Our soldiers fight and die for these morons' freedom] Our spy reports that Barrymore tried to make off with one of the pix, but her publicist informs us it was a picture of herself that the star placed on the wall before realizing the nature of the event. "She was really embarrassed," the rep tells us. Page Six

The freak show, long a staple of the traveling carnival, finally has settled in one place - Hollywood:

Hollywood apparently doesn't hold Mel Gibson's agent responsible for the sins of the star's father. Enemies of ICM Vice Chairman Ed Limato predicted that conscientious stars would boycott his annual pre-Oscar party because Mel's dad, Hutton, recently claimed the Holocaust never happened. But the naysayers were disproven Friday night, when star after star rolled up to Limato's estate, traipsed down his rolling lawn, and planted themselves in his poolside tent.

Barbra Streisand, sporting a beret, [symbolizing solidarity with France or Monica?] arrived with James Brolin and chatted with director James Brooks and designer Donna Karan (occasionally swiping DK's ravioli).

Leonardo Di Caprio huddled with Adrien Brody - giving the Best Actor nominee a good-luck soul shake. Winona Ryder chain-smoked and wobbled around in shoes that looked too big. [Instead of swiping Donna Karan's ravioli, she was seen walking out with a lamp, end table and Barbra's beret] Mike Myers joked with Tim Robbins. Sly Stallone talked acting with Salma Hayek.

Nicky Hilton got flirty with "Orange County" star Colin Hanks, who came with his mom, Rita Wilson. Paris Hilton trained her blond beam on Nicolas Cage, but the "Adaptation" star eventually turned his attention elsewhere (prompting Paris to impatiently check her rhinestone-encrusted cell phone). [Oh my gosh, she has one too?!?]

Even Jennifer Lopez came - decked out in a tight brown skirt and plunging, ruffled blouse. J.Lo and Limato severed their professional relationship last October. Whatever went wrong, the two certainly didn't look estranged at the party. The only guy getting more affection from Lopez was her fiancé, Ben Affleck, wearing a hooded camel sweater. NY Daily News

An American soldier is in custody," Maj. Trey Cate, a spokesman for the division.

Major Cate did not identify the detained soldier or suggest a motive, but military sources described him as a sergeant attached to an engineering unit, an American citizen, and a Muslim convert. He was found in a scud bunker when senior officers took a head count after the attack.

This in the 101st bombing event yesterday.

Now we're hearing that the Iraqis executed some captured American soldiers and the scene was broadcast with glee over Al-Jazeerah TV. Bastards.

Word this AM is that Iraq has captured, and possibly shot through the head, several American prisoners of war. Word also is that they hold some Americans as prisoners. The video, being played on Al Jazeera, is said to be stomach-turning. Let's remember to pray for these soldiers.

With such serious news, it makes the following all the more ridiculous:

While we here at The Guild usually have a very lively thread on the Oscars, could we consider NOT doing so tonight? I am just having a very hard time giving any coverage to fools which don't understand the life and death battles our troops are fighting.

Hollywood has become a caricature of its former self. I can't stomach watching them tonight.

Would it be possible for The Guild to boycott the Oscars tonight and not run a live thread? Instead, perhaps we could run a live thread of prayers and comforting/inspiring words for our troops? -- E

I have to agree. We should have an "un-Oscar" thread, because some things are more important than that ridiculous self-gratifying exercise in ego stroking.

I'm with you. I have no desire to watch the disgusting fruit loops carry on with their nauseating drivel. They are so insignificant in light of what our service men and women are doing around the world. They absolutely need our prayers. CC

That sounds wonderful. One thing I thought about, however, is what is the difference b/w all of the major sporting events going on and the Oscars handing out their awards? My BIL and SIL were over last night and he was going on and on about the basketball games. What is the difference from the sporting events and the Oscars?

Second, Drudge is showing the body of one of our KIA. My only thought right now, "Unleash Hell."

Oh, that is a GREAT idea... This is something I would be delighted to participate in. At the risk of offending some of my dear friends here at the Guild: I have long considered 'the Oscars' to be without any redeeming social value whatsoever and have sat on the sidelines while the Guild hosts these annoying threads.

I have generally sat in wonderment as reasonably intelligent people stooped so low as to give credibility to a group of leftists. Sorry to differ with my dear friends on this thread, but it is something I simply do not understand. I'm so glad you are giving it up for tonite.

Actually, we've stooped low to mock their self-importance, but I appreciate your point!

I always viewed it as putting the twits in their place and puncturing their pomposity. However I don't think I can watch them tonight and I, too, support a boycott.

That x42 runs with the dimbulb Hollywood crowd is reason enough to ignore them. Entertainment Weekly has an article about all the Oscars night parties, and notes:

Another fundraiser, for Children Uniting Nations, will take place at the House of Blues on the Sunset Strip. Celebs who've RSVP'd reportedly include Bill Clinton, Tara Reid, J.C. Chasez, Jeff Goldblum, Jane Seymour, Anjelica Huston, Alec Baldwin, Aaron Carter, and Carmen Electra.
