That's funny Argh. (You might have noticed your alter-ego inspired my tagline)

What do you think of your quebec scum hockey fans who booed the American National Anthem in the game against the NY Islanders the other day? I will not boo the singing of "Oh Canada", but if I attend a sporting event here in Dallas featuring a Canadian team I will be awfully tempted to sit down during the Canadian anthem. I guess I shouldn't diss the whole country over the actions of a few hooligans however.

What can I say, Quebecois can be awfully childish. I remember a Montreal Machine game back in the early 90's in the World League of American Football (which has now shrunk down to NFL Europe or whatever it's called). Anyway, Canada was going through our Meech Lake agonies (WAY too long a story to tell here). The bottom line of it was, Quebec was all insulted by some national referendum that seemed to (but didn't really) insult Quebec. The hilarious thing was, Quebec (barely) voted against it too! Anyway, the young hotheads were angry, so at that week's Machine game they politely applauded the American anthem and booed the Canadian one like crazy! The Machine never had anthems performed again during the rest of their (brief) history. I lived in Montreal for 28 years, and love the city, but the French part of the population has a large percentage of very childish people. Canadiens' fans used to have more class, but not anymore, I guess.

I saw a replay of the booing idiocy in Montreal the other night. For what it's worth, it appeared at least half of the crowd did a good job of trying to clap and cheer over the booers. The American goalie for the Islanders appeared to appreciate the effort.
