Another thing I don't get is when cars go in for pit stops. How is it that when they get back out on the race track, they are still in the race. You would think that the cars have already done at least a full lap during the time they were in the pit stop and they'd be automatically in last place or pretty much close to it. (I'm guessing it's because the other cars need to make pit stops too and it all comes out in the wash.)

Welcome aboard...I've been going to races since the mid-eighties... I spent a day at the GM Tech Center Wind Tunnel with Richard Petty testing his '85 season car...an experience I will never forget!

Yo! NR---!.

Today's biggest decision----watch NASCAR on Fox, or CART on SPEED? Both will green flag it at 1pm ET. The wife is leaning towards CART (me too). Oh, woe is me!!

Teams have up to 20 cars to go through the season with. Most teams will have cars for superspeedways, short tracks, and a Poconno/road course group of cars. At the track teams bring two cars, the primary, and a backup in case the primary gets banged up.

So that means if a driver cracks a car up during a race, he can jump into his backup car and get back into the race? During last weeks race, some of the cars got smashed up but I didn't notice those drivers getting back into the race.

That's a no brainer. Watch the NASCAR race. Don't waste your time with go-cart racing.
