It’s our own fault really.
It really is Gondor's fault.... after all, if Sauron was such a big deal, they would have destroyed the Ring the first time around at the end of the second age. They brought it on themselves.
And Sauron has already been reduced to a big flaming eye. He can't even take physical form. How bad can he be?
