Word For The Day, Wednesday, 2/12/03
2/12/03
Posted on 02/12/2003 12:33:25 AM PST by Bella_Bru
In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of word for the day. Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the word of the day; in a sentence. The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-) Practice makes perfect.....post on....
Teacher's note:
On Monday, I gave this word as an alternate for some students. It's all in good fun, but you do know that I get irked sometimes.
kvetch\KVECH\, intransitive verb:
kvetch, noun
To complain habitually.
noun:
1. A complaint.
2. A habitual complainer.
Etymology: Kvetch comes from Yiddish kvetshn, "to squeeze, to complain," from Middle High German quetzen, quetschen, "to squeeze."

So, guilty of running over the guy with the SUV......Must we now outlaw Weapons of Mass Compaction? Was it 4WD? Then it's a Weapon of Mass Quad-traction...

Probation -my A$S!
That would be the equivalent of declaring "OPEN SEASON" on all cheating spouses. Despicable as Mr. Harris' behavior may have been....a death sentence imposed by a jury of ONE is just a tad over the top.
Clara Harris is a well-funded, well-educated woman... she could have inflicted untold punishment on her husband by means of your average scum-sucking, bottom-feeding divorce lawyer... Mr. Harris would then only WISH that he were dead.

Actually, the murder weapon was a big-a$s Mercedes sedan.
Probably more lethal than an SUV... less ground clearance.

(This whole trial was a speedbump in her life - a short detour in her car'srear as a lawyer that I'm sure she'll put behind her as they iron out those small differences between herself and her husband.)

Thanks, dubya - yes ithas been 2 years............
Actually it was 2 years this past October that we made the decision to move and started trying to sell it ourselves. But it's now been 2 years since we've been dealing with realtors.

If the sexes were switched, I don't any guy could post such defenses without being flamed to a crisp and call a mysogynist(sp?)

Underneath it all, I'm sure he was a just flat-out nice guy. These puns are getting tiring. I think we need to curb the topic or steer the thread in another direction.

Up until the end of the last century (geeze, that sounds funny when you think that was only three years ago!), in most states, if a husband caught his wife in adultery, he was justified in whatever he did to her and her lover. The woman wasn't so lucky, if she caught her husband and his lover, the standard excuse was "Oh, he's just a man and they can't be monogomous!). Isn't it funny, that still seems to be the case!!!!
