Word For The Day, Wednesday, 2/12/03
2/12/03
Posted on 02/12/2003 12:33:25 AM PST by Bella_Bru
In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of word for the day. Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the word of the day; in a sentence. The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-) Practice makes perfect.....post on....
Teacher's note:
On Monday, I gave this word as an alternate for some students. It's all in good fun, but you do know that I get irked sometimes.
kvetch\KVECH\, intransitive verb:
kvetch, noun
To complain habitually.
noun:
1. A complaint.
2. A habitual complainer.
Etymology: Kvetch comes from Yiddish kvetshn, "to squeeze, to complain," from Middle High German quetzen, quetschen, "to squeeze."

Howdy all!!!
I'm going to be pretty much hit and run for a while ...... like that's any different from the way I've been.
But after nearly 2 years of aggravation, an offer was made on our house last night that is so close to our figure that even though our realtor is making a counter offer this morning, we will not be turning it down if they don't meet our offer.
If everything goes properly - I will finaly be out of this forsaken he!! hole by Good Friday.
I would like to thank all my good friends here in the classroom for all the support you've given me through this
ordeal.

Yes, Clara Harris is guilty... blah, blah, blah....
And now, for something completely different... [That's a Monty Python thing...]
Liberal hypocrisy: (courtesy of Chuck Muth)...
[Think "Miguel Estrada"....]
"I have stated over and over again...that I would object to and fight against any filibuster on a judge, whether it is somebody I opposed or supported." Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-VT) - Congressional Record, 6/18/98 at S6521
"A nominee is entitled to a vote" Sen. Dianne Feinstein (D-CA)-Congressional Record, 9/16/99 at S11014
"It is pitiful. Talking about the fairness of the system and how it is equitable for a minority to restrict the majority view, why can we not have a straight up-or-down vote on this without threats of a filibuster." Sen. Frank Lautenberg (D-NJ) - Congressional Record, 6/21/99 at S8739

Maybe everyone has triskaidekaphobia. It's possible, you know, even though todays not Friday.

Thanks -
When the people left here Tuesday night hubby was highly optimistic and the more optimistic he got the further into depression I fell. I just couldn't deal with anymore "hopes" being dashed.
I don't know if it was his optimism or my lack thereof - but something worked.
As you well know, I'm more than looking forward to getting out of here!!!
