Word For The Day, Wednesday, 2/12/03
2/12/03
Posted on 02/12/2003 12:33:25 AM PST by Bella_Bru
In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of word for the day. Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the word of the day; in a sentence. The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-) Practice makes perfect.....post on....
Teacher's note:
On Monday, I gave this word as an alternate for some students. It's all in good fun, but you do know that I get irked sometimes.
kvetch\KVECH\, intransitive verb:
kvetch, noun
To complain habitually.
noun:
1. A complaint.
2. A habitual complainer.
Etymology: Kvetch comes from Yiddish kvetshn, "to squeeze, to complain," from Middle High German quetzen, quetschen, "to squeeze."

Oh, she's the queen and she knows it.
I can deal, seeing she's a little lapdog, but, my folks have a Boxer and he is just as prissy!
I have no desire to know what he is doing with tweezers. It frightens me.

With a pair of Heavy Duty
Zircon encrusted tweezers in my hand,
Every other Wrangler would say
I was Mighty Grand...
By Myself, I wouldn't
have no boss,
But I'd be raisin my Lonely
Dental Floss...

Haha, Maxie needs to replace the durn filament cause it's probably set too close to the anode so THAT'S why it keeps shorting out... Huh? Filament? Anode? Is Maxie making vacuum tubes?

Heh...it's pouring here and Petunia refuses to go outside to do her business. Dogs don't get that way in Seattle. (He says, looking outside at that ugly, ugly clear blue sky and way-too-bright sunshine.)

Most of the dental floss is raised up on the hi line in the eastern part of the state. It's too hilly around here for the floss to spread out properly.

I am glad it is raining. It hasn't rained in months. Not only that, but last year was pretty dry too. The rain will clear out the smog for a day or two. I tell ya, the first time I saw the beige sky here, I freaked. That CANNOT be healthy.

I am glad it is raining. It hasn't rained in months. Not only that, but last year was pretty dry too. We're short on precipitation too. There's almost no skiing up in the mountains, I gather, because of a shortage of snow. It got close to being dangerously dry here last summer (dangerous when your house is deep in a cedar forest!), and they had some pretty bad fires in the mountains.

She'd have to be on phenabarbitol the rest if her life. I won't kvetch about the cost, though.Phenobarb is cheap. You can even get a prescription from the vet and get it filled at Costco, if Costco is cheaper. If the phenobarb doesn't work well, there is another drug, but I can't remember the name of it right now.
