Word For The Day, Wednesday, 2/12/03
2/12/03

Posted on 02/12/2003 12:33:25 AM PST by Bella_Bru

In order that we might all raise the level of discourse and expand our language abilities, here is the daily post of “word for the day”. Rules: Everyone must leave a post using the “word of the day”; in a sentence. The sentence must, in some way, relate to the news of the day. The Review threads are linked for your edification. ;-) Practice makes perfect.....post on....

Teacher's note:

On Monday, I gave this word as an alternate for some students. It's all in good fun, but you do know that I get irked sometimes.

kvetch\KVECH\, intransitive verb:
kvetch, noun

To complain habitually.

noun:
1. A complaint.
2. A habitual complainer.

Etymology: Kvetch comes from Yiddish kvetshn, "to squeeze, to complain," from Middle High German quetzen, quetschen, "to squeeze."

Not everything can be fixed with duct tape, though

You mean, like NATO?

Nyuk nyuk nyuk...

THOUGHT FOR THE DAY

Currently, there is more money being spent on breast implants and Viagra than on Alzheimer's research. So..... by 2020 there should be a large, elderly population with perky breasts, superb erections and no recollection of what to do with them.

That's where I got it from, having been an accountant for decades.

I see. I was a purchasing manager for 18 years, so I worked with bean counters daily...

I use the phrase 'bean counters' in humor, of course.

My dog had another seizure. This time, it was during the day, so I took her to her regular vet. Last time, it was 8pm on a Sunday. We had to take her to an animal ER and leave her overnight. Total cost: $450. Our vet thinks she is developing epilepsy, which is common in Pekes. But, we aren't going to put her on meds until the seizures atart occurring more than once a month. Right now they are about every 3-4 months.

She'd have to be on phenabarbitol the rest if her life. I won't kvetch about the cost, though. She's our baby!!

Haha, Maxie made a funny...

Haha, Maxie needs to replace the durn filament cause it's probably set too close to the anode so THAT'S why it keeps shorting out...

Two Mexican detectives were investigating the murder of Juan Gonzalez.

"How was he killed?" asked one detective.

"With a golf gun," the other detective replied.

"A golf gun?! What is a golf gun?"

"I don't know. But it sure made a hole in Juan."

Oh, I was a wreck. I was crying hysterically the first time she had one! Alex was sick to death too.

She loves piggy ears too! They are much better for them than rawhide, BTW.

We take them away when they get too chewed down, though. You must have been hysterical when he was choking!

Heh...it's pouring here and Petunia refuses to go outside to do her business. Looks like I'll have to do what my parents do: Go out with the dog and hold an umbrella over her.

Dogs know how to get us, don't they? They know we are their pathetic little slaves.
