various links and websites

At the request of members, I am restarting those "Tales from the Dark UnderBelly Of the Beast"-- the stories and issues that the press and media either ignore, won't even talk about, or will mention once and forevermore claim "it's old news..."
Naturally, some will be stories which interest me, or things I think we all need to be aware of.
I am experimenting with a minor change in presentation- when I can, I will cut to
-GoogleNewsBeta--
with a keyword or two and see what kind of links to "mainstream" stories I can find in contrast to what we see here and on other sites.
May I remind you of a couple of points to bear in mind?
Each link usually has many other links within- follow them all to get "the rest of the story."
Don't forget the "open multiple browsers" trick with control-n -- this allows you to hold your place with one, and use the others to follow links, run searches, etc.
Rather than go back and rehash old links, I'll give you links to the original posts here:
-DUBOB 10- the *best of* the Dark Underbelly Series--
-DUBOB 9-- even *more* tales from the Dark Underbelly of the Beast..... --
DUBOB 8-- still *more* tales from the Underbelly***
DUBOB 7-- even *more* tales from the Dark Underbelly of the Beast.....
DUBOB 6-- yet *more* tales from the Dark Underbelly of the Beast.....
DUBOB 5-- even *more* tales from the Dark Underbelly of the Beast.....
DUBOB IV- yet more Tales from the Dark Underbelly of the Beast-
DUBOB III -- "Tales from the Dark Underbelly of the Beast"
DUBOB 2-- more tales from The Dark Underbelly of the Beast-- thread II
-The Dark Underbelly of the Beast- Stories the Media won't Discuss...--

Ingratitude and other passions
Jerusalem Post ^ | Mar. 27, 2003 | Per Ahlmark
Posted this for three reasons. One, to show that not everybody from Sweden is a moral pygmy. Two, the interesting comments on Hans Blix. This guy's opinion of Blix may be lower than Rush Limbaugh's. Three, the observation, regarding European radicals emoting over the third world masses, that they "...pretended to defend oppressed peoples when in fact they despised them."

Treason
Article III, Section 3 - Treason against the United States, shall consist only in levying war against them, or in adhering to their enemies, giving them aid and comfort. No person shall be convicted of treason unless on the testimony of two witnesses to the same overt act, or on confession in open court.
The Congress shall have power to declare the punishment of treason, but no attainder of treason shall work corruption of blood, or forfeiture except during the life of the person attainted.
|
Sedition
Crime of creating a revolt, disturbance, or violence against lawful civil authority with the intent to cause its overthrow or destruction. Because it is limited to organizing and encouraging opposition to government rather than directly participating in its overthrow, sedition is regarded as falling one step short of the more serious crime of treason. In the U.S., the display of a certain flag or the advocacy of a particular movement, such as syndicalism, anarchy, or communism, has periodically been declared seditious. In recent decades the courts have applied a more stringent test to ensure that constitutional guarantees regarding freedom of speech are not abridged. See also Alien and Sedition Acts.
|
The current anti-war movement, while claiming publicly to advocate for peace, is dominated by organizations promoting communism, anarchy, large-scale urban rioting, financial disruption and violent attacks on governmental, corporate, military and media centers in America.
"Many dangerous, violent and profoundly anti-American organizations are using the current war as cover to try to bring America to its knees. They hate this country and openly advocate destroying it. Their cause has nothing to do with opposing war, but everything to do with opposing America. In some cases, both their tactics and their goals are not far from those of the very terrorists we are fighting." --World Net Daily Editor and CEO Joseph Farah. |

When liberals crap in the streets and block traffic its freedom of speech, but when we go by the book and have a successful, good-natured rally we're being unfair.
In other words, it's only free speech when the liberals are speaking it.

Fox News ^ | April 4, 2003 | Naheda Zayed
Incidently the state of Taxachusett has soaked up over 22 billion dollars of local, state and federal money for a 13 year tunnel project in Boston to Logan Airport..While all the other highways and roads in the state are litteraly falling apart over the last 15 years..it's a disgrace how the people in the state get nothing for their big tax dollars..
Add Charlie Rangel to the list also ... he characterized the Bush administration as a regime on Hannity and Colmes. It would appear that the talking points fluttered along for a while...

You should add Illinois....we are facing a HUGE ban in our now democratically controlled senate, house & governorship. This ban would even seek to "outlaw" most shotguns.
I love to see the people who love gun control cry and whine about the 1994 Federal Assault Weapons Ban ending. Hopefully this tyrannical law will go the way of the extinction. My Congressmen will certainly hear more from me on this subject before September 2004.

But the way the coalition members see it, the big nations that opposed the war -- Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Chile and Venezuela, among others -- will end up on the wrong side of history, much where some of them found themselves during World War II, or when President Jimmy Carter launched his human rights campaign.
Tell that to my kids' private school. Tuition per student costs half of what the state spends -- and the quality is better.
Not buying this garbage. And the AP was just dying to throw in the "M" word (moderate) to describe a guy who ISN'T. Sounds frighteningly like Clinton circa 1992.
Hey! An NPR report. They may be leftists but they don't go off half cocked. If NPR is reporting they've found mustard gas, it may well be true.

Why the heck do these Muslim "groups" who are delusional in their own sense of self-importance think we should care what they think? These people have no place in the decision making process of this country.

Most of the atrocities that are being carried out on the African continent are against Christians.
That might explain the total lack of concern from the UN...
...Of course they've also said the same things about talk radio, too.
That's how I wound up being a ditto head. I heard all these leftists that I knew and respected saying how awful this Rush guy was. He shouldn't be allowed on the radio.

Blood flushes anti-military class biasBoston Herald ^ | Tuesday, April 8, 2003 | Margery Eagan...Yet the soldiers now fighting at least partly to avenge their deaths come from a different America...And so her husband's recent announcement ``at a typical Cambridge'' dinner party brought blistering anti-Bush (he's dumb) and anti-war (it's dumber) talk to a halt.
And Saddam's defenders, on both sides of the Atlantic, have been notably silent.
They know how contemptible it would be to spit on the troops today the way the cowardly anti-war movement did during America's war in Viet Nam, and as much as they want to relive the glory days of the 60's, they just don't have the guts.

So, now that the Bush Administration has been vindicated about its position that Saddam Hussein had weapons of mass destruction, weapons systems prohibited by UN resolution, links to terrorist organizations and that his regime raped, mutilated and tortured their own people for political purposes, I suppose the United Nations will be calling a special meeting of the Security Council so they can urgently vote a unanimous resolution to apologize to the United States.

Incredble, isn't it? Saddam has made a mountain of human skulls during his reign, but America, the Great Satan, is worse! When will Americans learn that this is a religious war, that muslims will NEVER like America, and we should STOP caring whether they like us... I don't give a flip what muslims think... This is about national survival...
Sounds like a Democrat seminar caller.

Saddam’s jailers were meticulous record-keepers. They pinned photographs inside the documents showing how the prisoner was bearing up to various stages of torture. They finished with pictures of the battered and bloodied body after execution.
We've seen this before. Nazi Germany, Stalin's USSR, North Korea, and Cuba. It's happened before. And each time, we are shocked and horrified. We must remember that it is a never-ending fight to stop this from ever happening again.
For Amar and Ali are victims of Saddam Hussein’s ruthless destruction of civilians in his pursuit of power. Saddam is a modern Moloch engorged with the human blood of his tortured and slaughtered innocent child victims.
It is extremely frustrating to hear people (especially the Red Cross) balking over the innocent Iraqi citizens that we are hurting. Where was the outrage over all of this: http://iraqcenter.com/english/photos.html during SH reign?
It was not clear who had opened the doors of the [Children's]prison.
It sure wasn't Martin Sheen or Susan Sarandon or Mike Farrell.
Where was Ahmed's despair over all of this: http://iraqcenter.com/english/photos.html during SH reign? I would insert images here directly; but I think they are too disturbing. I left the link for all to decide to look at it. Some of the pics are extremely graphic as a warning.
Dennis Prager had an extreemly cogent statement about Arab lying the other day.
His point is that in Arab culture, it is more important too keep honor than it is to tell the truth.
