We will not tire, we will not falter, and we will not fail!
Good morning!! Do not let the victims of the attacks on New York and Washington, nor the brave members of our Nation's military who have given their lives to protect our fredom, die in vain!!
There is a new tact from the anti-war crowd in the news this morning. They are calling for bringing back the draft. Reps Charlie Rangel of New York and John Conyers of Michigan have two complaints: (1) the fighting force of the Nation is composed of too high a level of minorities; and (2) they believe the US would deal with Iraq peacefully if politicians knew their children would be the one's in harms way.
The Supreme Court of California has ruled that it is rape even if sex is started with the consent of both adults, but the female changes her mind after the act has actually started.
Charles Pickering has been renominated by the Bush Administration for a Federal Appellate judgeship.
And there are two new ad spots that has been designed by Arianna Huffington of the Detroit Group which suggests that SUV owners are supporting terrorists. From the New York Times:
"This is George," a girl's voice says of an oblivious man at a gas station. "This is the gas that George bought for his S.U.V." The screen then shows a map of the Middle East. "These are the countries where the executives bought the oil that made the gas that George bought for his S.U.V." The picture switches to a scene of armed terrorists in a desert. "And these are the terrorists who get money from those countries every time George fills up his S.U.V."
A second commercial depicts a series of ordinary Americans saying things like: "I helped hijack an airplane"; "I gave money to a terrorist training camp in a foreign country"; "What if I need to go off-road?"
At the close, the screen is filled with the words: "What is your S.U.V. doing to our national security?"
YET (!!!!), these are the very same folks that do not want us to expand our domestic sources of oil by drilling in ANWR. They should sit down and shut up, because they are hypocrites - each and every one of them. Why? Because it matters not what vehicle you drive, a portion of the fuel can be argued to have come from Saudi Arabia - so they are just as guilty following their line of reasoning.
For AMERICA - The Right Way, I remain yours in the Cause, the Chairman.

I think W. (and Rove) have finally figured out that there is nothing to lose or embarrassing if they fight a good fight and still lose a nomination. Look how Leahy and Kennedy and Schumer made Pickering look like a fool...
I like the fact that at least THESE Republicans are saying, 'Hey, payback is gonna be really painful'....
To: Bitwhacker
Jeff Birbaum and Mara Liason...are pooh poohing Pickering renomination.....
Even Krauthammer is saying he will be defeated....misunderestimating the President again..

Mark this down. On Jan 8, Jeff Birnbaum, Mara Liasson, and Charles Krauthamer have ALL predicted that Pickering's nomination will not go through.

Krauthammer just made the point that the RATS will use alot of ammo on Pickering which means other nominations will get thru... Maybe the plan is to flush the RATS out...make them over play their hand.

I think they are wrong. I suspect that Pickering will be confirmed. grin!

It does look as though there are two theories. One says that W. would never have made the renomination without having the votes. The other is that he forces the dems to shoot their wad at Pickering, and then when later nominations come up, they will go through.
This is going to be an interesting year.

So there are 2 theories as to Pickering? Maybe my idea that he has the votes is just wishful thinking...

Pretty good, Allie. Had a nice Christmas time with our 2 grown sons and some company, and I just found out a couple of cousins are coming to town this weekend.
My family is very dear to me.

Well, everyone said last year that if Pickering's nomination ever made it to a full vote, he would be confirmed. Leahy & Co. made sure of that.
Think it'll make it to the Senate floor this time (hehehe)???

Whether or Pickering is in, I like Brit's analysis of the issue.
This is OUR President..telling the Dems...well, rubbing it in their faces actually, that he isn't scared of them and their race baiting tactics...
