I'm looking to form a fantasy hockey league with 15 or 16 other Freepers who follow the great game of hockey! Further details are inside.
My plan was to form a league of 16 teams, with that league using the Batesoft GM Editor. For those not familiar with this software, it is along the lines of the Strat-o-matic games, but uses player ratings and a game simulator to figure out the outcome of games. The software creates the schedule for all the teams, and keeps track of various stats generated from the games.
This would not be a stats-based league, where we simply keep track of stats from NHL games to see who has the best team. It is a little more involved than that, but definitely more fun. If you would like to get a better idea of what this league would be about, you can check out the site for another league that I am in- GWHL.
Right now, I'm just trying to get an idea of how many people would be interested in doing this, with either 15 or 16 being the magic number (I would simply be the Commissioner if 16 people are interested, and a participant if one more is needed). Those that are interested in joining can send me a message via Freep-mail.
So, let's start a league! It'll be a good way to enjoy the great game of hockey, and will help us take our minds off of the full-contact sport of Inside-the-Beltway politics. Game on!
BTW, the league that I am currently in (the one linked above) has openings for 2 GMs, so anyone that is interested can also mention that in their Freep-mail to me. The season starts soon, so make your claim ASAP!
For sake of my profession I would have to root for the Edmonton Oilers :)
