Am I the only one sick of unending posts about Lott? I come to FreeRepublic to catch news and discussion that are not available on-line elsewhere. Now, it seems we have become like the DemoRats, all we talks about is Lott.

Lott should just shut up and stop talking about it. Once he stops, perhaps this firestorm will abate until January 6th when the Republicans meet to determine whether or not to dump him.

As it stands right now, Lott is just digging hole every time he opens his mouth.

I agree enough mention of Lott.
There have been a Lott of posts about other subjects and we do have a Lott of other things to write about.
People should not waste one tiny bit of space anymore to point out that if he blackmails the GOP into keeping him there, threatening to quit and turn the seat over to a Demmie gov to fill with a Demmie (or is it dummy?) the GOP will never be the same.
People should not waste a Lott more time noting that if this happens efforts to attract African-American voters will be on the skids, and Senator Lott will have basically trumped the White House (which clearly wants him to go but we should turn to a Lott of other subjects).
No one should write about the fact that if he stays where he is despite all of the great efforts of GWB and his crew, despite the GOP triump in the elections, control of the judiciary, the face of the GOP will be a Lott different..since if a Lott of Senators go along with keeping him in place that is n-e-w-s and is a tacit endorsement of the worst interpretation of what he said.
I agree enough is enough, let's move on and forget about it. What's the worst that can happen if he stays in place? The Democrats have a Lott of ammunition, a face for fund-raising, a sound-bite for commercials in elections in 2004 and probably 2006, and the new face that GOP seemed to have under GWB has been punched in a but.
I think this went on too long..beyond time normally aLotted to keep attention.
So I agree: no more discussion of LOTT. (Actually, I think Hillary put him up to saying what he said; that could be the only explanation...no professional political could be so stupid to give his enemies such ammunition...a real Lott-weight)

Classic "Death from a million scratches" technique. Years back, it was the o'l, "It's not the validity of the charges, it's the seriousness of them" that was used. We must remove Lott because he is a pathetic,useless, spineless excuse for a leader.

Doing it now? Doing it on such school-yard recess tactics id just wrong. He is just being bullied because he can be. The man is a pussy. He is paying the price, and the GOP is paying the price for his inability to put Daschle in his place and hold Jeffords accountable for his actions.

The time to get rid of Lott is in the spring. Get rid of him right around April 15th when Bush announces scrapping the old and bringing in the new, like scrapping the tax code and those who covet our incomes like Lott.

Through the media and demoRATS constant barrage of yelling "racism", Lott is being railroaded out of his job. Does he deserve it? No! What did he say that was so wrong? Nothing. Are words being interpreted of what he meant? Yes! He needs support not condemnation. What's being done to him is a concerted effort by democrazy elites to eliminate him politically. Wouldn't be surprised to learn that Hitlery is knee deep into this smear campaign? About a year ago, she, being a new junior senator, refused to adjourn a late night session of the senate re the budget due to Thurmond's obvious exhaustive state. Understandably, the vote was crucial to both sides, but it didn't have to happen that particular late evening. Give Lieberman credit when he tried to adjourn for the benefit of Thurmond but to no avail since Hitlery overruled him. Now because Lott gave Thurmond, centenarian, a tribute of a view vague words, Lott is now being crucified. This very same method by the democrazies elite and the liberal media was used on Reagan's Secretary of Interior in the early 80's to drum him out of office. Should we as FReepers stand by and let this happen again by the obvious racists democrazies? Absolutely not!

This is exactly how I feel about it as well. Democrats are playing hardball to get control of the Senate, and we are helping them. But it's partly Lott's fault. He should have just apologized once if he thought his comments were taken out of context and then said no more about it, just let his supporters speak for him.

Now it looks like the liberals over the next two years are going to get more legislatively than they ever would have gotten through the ballot box, no matter what happens now.
