Well, it was a busy weekend. Cleaned house- to include shampooing the carpets, made some kerchiefs for the dogs, ran errands, took the s-i-l to dinner, and saw a couple of movies. In the theaters we saw Extrordinary Gentlemen and Legally Blonde 2. The first was entertaining, although the ending seemed to come to a crashing halt rather than a nice resolution. The second was just plain silly, but that was the point I think.

But! I stumbled across a real gem on cable* that was just fantastic- a little bit of Indian cinema called Agni Varsha. I've always heard that movies are big over there but I've never seen any of them. This was awesome! It's an adaptation of a play based on a Hindu myth and weaves together themes of family and caste, cosmic intrigue, honor, ritual, love, lust, loyalty and betrayal. It's a Hindu Hamlet. Very, very cool.

*It pains me to say, the Sundance Channel. Ugh.

Thanks for the tip about that movie! - You had a productive day! - I did a bunch of laundry and put it away instead of piling it on the guest bed! - I am livin' right!

Agni Varsha

What do you reckon it would be 'rated'. Might it be something I could watch with our 15 y.o. daughter? She'll be studying Ancient Indus civilizations this year, and I'm always on the lookout for movies, etc.; visuals of the civilizations.
