I am surprised people can get up and touch the statues.... Would have thought they'd be roped off. Aren't they easily damaged? - or are they not as soft and waxy as I think?

Some folks were linking arms with the statues, putting their arms around them, etc. None were roped off. I believe they are for the most part acrylic, but with the outer coating being waxy for the effect.

When we first walked up to the museum, I saw Samuel L. Jackson standing there staring at someone. It took me a full 30 seconds to realize that it was a wax figure. It was absolutely perfect! There was a Harrison Ford nearby, but I must have passed right by and not even realized it. I saw it from 15 feet away when we were standing in line.

Some figures were better likenesses than others. The George W. Bush figure didn't look that much like him, and Ronald Reagan's hair was ALL wrong. I got a picture with the Morgan Freeman figure (he's from MS, too, up in the Delta where SSQ grew up). I also took Clare's picture with the Albert Einstein figure which DID look like him, and it wasn't until I downloaded them yesterday that I realized she's posing just like him, but didn't realize it at the time! He's got his right hand on his hip and she had her left hand on hers. It was fun to see how it turned out.
