It isn't so much that the horse clippers are needed, it is that my dad can't do it because he will get shredded by the cat.
If you had every tried to shave a cat, you would understand!
Last year, he took the cat to a groomer, and the groomer was not able to finish, got shredded, and I don't think wants the return business!
I can handle him OK, but I recommended to Dad that he go to the vet and get some kitty downers.... He is a really long-haired cat, and not only is he prone to mats, but also hacking up hairballs.... so dad likes him shaved in the spring but my old clippers were kaputz.
