I am sort of thinking 12 gauge, maybe an automatic to mitigate recoil and noise, tho I am worried about the length of autos. She is small, about 5'3", so I'm hoping that cutting off the stock and getting a shorter, such as 26", barrel could help.

I just like 12's because they are a little more forgiving and can reach out a little more, too.
