1. Why was Helen kidnapped at the beginning. I missed the motives.
2. If Helen is supposed to be the most beautiful woman in the world, then shouldn't they have gotten a beautiful woman to portray her? Come on, really... would you go to war for 10 years for her. (I know Helen was just the pretext)
Corin, you've quit the religious wars numerous times. Is this time... for sure. I haven't been there for almost a year... and I do not miss them. Let them bite and devour one another over the same silly arguments and for the pleasure of being "right". I got more important things to do.
Who's the FR mascot and why was he desposed?
PS... when I find the "five" out and about on other threads, I find that they are just as obnoxious and mean-spirited no matter what subject they are discussing.
Sounds like to them, religion is a just a weapon they can use to subdue others.
Merely backing off. Not quitting.
LOL!! SSQ was watching it while on the treadmill the other night. I came in and saw the very end of it. That's what I asked him; she is supposed to be a beautiful woman? I guess they were on a low budget and couldn't get any big name stars, but surely there must have been lovelier women than she in the pool of available actresses!
I know, Meooowwww!
Why was Helen kidnapped at the beginning.
They didn't really give a reason in the movie, as I recall. In the myth, it was a combination of Theseus being on a lark, and being enraptured by Helen's beauty. She was rescued by her brothers Castor and Polydeuces (Pollux) but Theseus escaped alive.
shouldn't they have gotten a beautiful woman to portray her?
I agree, the actress was conventionally pretty, but not striking or beautiful. Except for one portion of her anatomy that got shown more than once... that was very striking! Beautiful, even! Uhm, but I don't know that I'd launch a thousand ships over that one feature....
