My mother's told me enough never to let anyone push me around or abuse me.

I think it's great now that most women are brought up to know we don't have to deal with it. Also, the first time I ever called and tried to get into a women's shelter I was told there was a 2 year waiting list. That was in 1976. That wasn't in this state but now I know that at least in Waco that is not a problem.

People are more understanding these days, I think. They don't leap to conclusions...

I will say that wherever I end up, I will make sure I do not have to depend on anyone for survival. That might be hard, if I ever get married and have kids, because my field is so quick to change. But... one just never knows what may happen.
