Heard of them, but... I prefer to analyze Tolkien on my own, not read someone who I don't know.

We had some excitement. I went out to the store for some supplies, and when I got back our street was full of fire trucks! Someone thought they smelled natural gas but it was a false alarm. I did get stuck behind the fire trucks though.

Wow, that's exciting! But annoying, I'll bet. ;)

It reminds of the time when my roommate and I arrived home to find out that someone in our apartment complex had called the fire department because our other roommate was at home and had started a fire in our fireplace. Talk about stupid neighbors, they saw the smoke and didn't apparently think about the fact that it was freezing cold outside and perhaps someone would have wanted a fire. They also apparently didn't notice all the smoke was coming from the chimney...Duh...

I'm always on the lookout for books that my Mom could read that might give her enough background on LOTR for her to feel comfortable enough with the supernatural element to see the movies and/or read the books. As it is right now, she'd probably only get as far as the black riders and then toss the whole thing out the window.
