The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!
Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog
Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

give the boy a kick in the @ss fer me and tell him to get back in the game... He's actually made quite a bit of progress since Christmas. We're going back to my alma mater next week (I'm on the college alumni board) and we're taking him along. They college has an incredible media/communications department and he's interested in video production.
I think it's helped that we've been encouraging him to focus on his interests.
Maybe you weren't around for the episode when he brought his Playstation2, his games, his new video camera and his new guitar that he'd gotten for Christmas down and said he didn't want them anymore...scared the bejeebers out of us...
To: RMDupree
We have TTT playstation 2 game. It is kinda neat too. They flash between real movie scenes and then all of a sudden you are Gimli whacking orcs. Much fun! I like to play it as Gimli, for as he says in the game "When I hit 'em, they stay down" or something like that.

Any parsley, sage or rosemary?
To: HairOfTheDog
I need to spend a bit of time with my old zulu, she isn't doing very well tonight. How is she this morning? Has she got arthritis flaring up cuz of the cold?
I use a blowdryer to warm up my Scruffy's joints on cool days if I notice him hobbling a bit

I'da been on alert... Yeah, homework seemed pretty insignificant after that.
To: HairOfTheDog
Thanks for reminding me how out-of-reach those props are becoming. [sigh]
But at least I'm caught up on reading here!
To: RMDupree
How is she this morning? [Zulu}Better! - She just has these episodes that are hard to read. She has been doing really well, gained a lot of weight, and been acting kinda peppy!
But then she will have a time like last night, where she just paces around the loop of the house, through the kitchen and back around... over and over again. Can't tell what she wants, and everywhere she tries to lay down she can't get comfortable. Sometimes she will just stand in the middle of the room with a kindof glower on her face and not move. I can't tell if she is in pain, or is just forgetting where she was going. Hard to read.
To: Corin Stormhands
Hi, Corin.
I have to admit, at Christmas time, we had inlaw problems that were unpleasant enough to make me start rethinking what I might do with the rest of my life. I can see that things won't be quite as I thought. Kind of disheartening.
It won't matter, because my wife, my kids and I love each other and we'll be fine. Makes me really appreciate that we have each other.
To: HairOfTheDog
We just seem like such an odd place to lurk.... escpecially since the entrance standards are so low! It could be that they haven't read the books yet and are afraid to post something silly or worse yet, have one of respond with "Oh everybody knows that!" You know what I mean? No one likes to feel dumb.
Attention Lurkers! No one in here will make fun you or make you feel stupid! At least, until we've known you a while! *wink*
Or maybe it's similar to what happened to me. I was just intimidated in joining a thread where everyone had such a tight-knit group already. I was afraid of being kind of "unwelcomed", if you take my meaning. There some "other" folks on FR that seem to delight on acting haughty and I've been burned before.
But I am so very happy I found this place and made such AWESOME friends! I can't imagine where I'd be without my Hobbit Hole "therapy". *grin*
