Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Thank you... now to maintain that....

Didn't you love the expression on Frodo's face when he realized that Smeagol was the one who rescued him at the Dead Marshes?
I also liked when Frodo chastised Sam for calling Smeagol names and then demonstrated the effect the Ring was having on him when he became angry. It was really amazing when Frodo fought Sam later at Osgiliath and I teared up when, at Sting's point, Sam said "I'm your Sam."

Hungry NOW.
All I've got is toast and PB (but then we elves are moderate in our habits and try not to clog the arteries, we have to live a long time).
52 hours to go for me before I get to see TTT :(
Work is keeping me from going in the evenings until the weekend. The rule with work is you either have way, way too much or none. Both are bad in their own ways -- life preventers. (My joke these days is that people are always asking me if I believe in life after death, I tell them that I'm having trouble believing in life before death right now).

I believe that icon is waving the middle finger...not the pointer finger...

I tell them that I'm having trouble believing in life before death right now..Ain't that the truth! With two kids, a full time job and a household to run and pay for, I've felt that way myself.
Then, as I sit in a darkened theatre transported to Middle Earth, I allow myself to forget it all and enjoy LIFE for a change! :)

All of Gollum/Smeagol's scenes moved me. I wasn't disgusted by him at all. I felt terribly sorry for him. The look on his face when Frodo first called him Smeagol broke my heart... as did the look when Gollum called him a murderer. I loved the dance he did when he thought he had banished Gollum.
I've always like Gollum/Smeagol. I don't excuse him; but I am very sympathetic to him.
And I still laugh when I think about him fretting over the cooking of the conies. It was so funny.

Who waves their middle finger at someone in a "no-no" gesture?
I think the smilies that have hands only have four fingers (like most cartoon characters, why is that?) so he couldn't possibly be waving his middle finger, since he doesn't have one.
Are you going to try going again tonight?

And I still laugh when I think about him fretting over the cooking of the conies.Another HH'er intrusion...."there's 2JM's coneys! What seasonings is Sam using?"
To: ksen
Still looks like it to me! LOL
I can't tonight, my dad and I are going Christmas shopping. Which reminds me, I gotta balance the checkbook!
To: ksen; 2Jedismom
I thought that was a very classy sneak. :)
And 2J is right. Upon closer inspection, I do believe your icon is giving me the bird. Middle finger waving is much ruder than Precious snaiging! *grin*
BTW, Can't wait for January 25th!

I was under the impression we were not going to do the precious bit in this Hole...

I guess my disgust stemmed from the knowledge that Gollum is leading them to Shelob.
However, I too felt such a tug at my heartstrings when Smeags brought them the conies. "Nice and fresh!" And when he thought he had banished Gollum. "We are free!" And when he was trying to catch the fish and Sam asked Frodo why he wanted to save him - the goofy grin on Smeags face when he looked at them from atop his rock perch in the river.
The most heartbreaking moment was when Gollum was comforting Smeagol after Frodo's betrayal. You just know that Smeagol was so desperate for comfort and friendship - Frodo had offered him that, but had to betray him to save his (Smeagol's) life. And that by saving his life, Frodo had restored Gollum to leadership. What sad irony!

There has been some uncommon restraint shown by people in our new home so far.

I, ummm, I was.....hmmmm...what is a good excuse?
Oh yeah, I was testing my post button and just happened to land on it. I couldn't see my other posts and was wondering what was wrong. I just had to try to post something simple and see if it worked. Yeah, yeah, that's the ticket!
I'm in BIG trouble, aren't I? :(

Only if 2J makes one of the Velveeta and SPAM sandwiches she spoke of!
To: RMDupree
