Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

I've only had time to listen to the director's commentary, not any of the others.

I'll probably make the time to listen the actor's commentary just so I can hear them talk. *grin* I'm so baaaaad.

They talk too much! I love Elijah Wood though! He's a cutie pie. So are the other hobbits. And Orlando Bloom. He is a bit hyper, but sweet. He raves about the Shire, and this whole beginning bit, though he was never there of course.

I haven't listened to the commentaries yet. I hope to listen to at least the actors' one this weekend. What actors are on the commentary?

My favorite part is probably either when they tease Sean Astin for constantly watching out for them or when they discuss teaching Elijah how to play "teg". Really funny!

I loved the actors' commentary- esp the hobbits. McKellen became irksome as the story wore on, very pretentious. He just couldn't resist the obligatory "I'm openly homosexual and I found the hand holding very touching" comment. It bothers me that so much sexuality is projected onto the characters, they don't need to be hollywoodized. Can't Frodo and Sam have that deep bond without it automatically being "subtext"? That irked me. But I could listen to the hobbits go on and on about their stunts and pranks all day. It was a good commentary.

The actors commentary is irritating until you get used to it.

They aren't ALL together... All the hobbits and Orlando are in one room, talking over one another sometimes, but overall the most entertaining. Once in a while, an Ian McKellan comment that sounds like it was recorded seperately will be cut in...

I don't mind the talking over. Remember, I am half Cuban so that is how I am used to hearing most conversations. Tee hee!

Ian McKellan must be hard pressed for dates if he keeps having to advertise that he's gay. ;)

Oh I'm used to commentaries. I always watch them on DVDs. Just haven't gotten around to this one yet. I'm used to the talking over :-) I can't wait to hear what they all have to say.

I've been surfing around too, paying bills online and finally ordered that LoTR CD-Rom I wanted. You can print out posters, greeting cards, etc from the first film and it's got tons of screensavers and wallpaper! YIPPEE!
