The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Journey to the Cross-roads

The Two Towers Edition

Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Ther's still another plate left (or half a plate) so help yourself.

I'm still working on lunch. :)

I personally use coffee but I've seen people use water before.

That's weird. How would it be red-eye gravy with water? ????

It's naive to think they will be, but business should be ecologically-minded because it's the right thing to do, not because they're forced to.

Here here!!! Heartfelt agreement!!

Alas, you have used the words "right thing to do" the word "right" used in context with people of "leftist" views just doesn't seem to work. ???

Well, Ruthy, I finally got my extended DVD set yesterday!!! So, now, I can keep up with ya'll!! (well sort of) I have not gotten through disk 4 yet. But, should do so on my lunch break.... which means I may have a long lunch today. I watched about 2 hours of it before I had to turn it off and get some sleep last night.

Since we just got the DVD player for Christmas I was okay without it until then... but, it's been a burning issue since we opened the player.

I'm having fun now.

Pink-eyed gravy

Scary, pink-eye is going around the schools here. Reckon that's what caused it?

Isn't it great!?

I love the Extended Version. It just fills out out those missing bits a bit and makes the whole FoTR round out significantly.

What is your favorite "new" scene, BTW?

Well of course it doesn't. I think that's perhaps the biggest difference between the right and the left. The left has no conscience, no soul.

Of course it's not always that clear-cut. But my definition of a conservative is someone that longs to see something done a certain way because that's the way it should be, regardless of how that makes one "feel."

Oh my... I don't think I can answer that yet. Although, I loved all the places that were "filled in."

I liked all the extra Hobbiton parts at the first.

I liked EVERY place where I no longer have to think - "now if you hadn't read the book you wouldn't quite get that."

I really liked the bonding time with Sam and Frodo.

The part at the Green Dragon was awesome..... although.... you know... it would have been nice if there was MORE!!!!

Besides...having a lot of waste = inefficiency = lost profits.

Corin we're on a subject that entertains me now.

The terms "right" and "left" used politically have always been an interesting point of linguistics to me. And since we're on a Tolkein thread I don't feel it's inappropriate to even ask you anyone to THINK about a linguistic reference.

Even though we know that politically "right" and "left" are not supposed to be related to other "non-political" uses of the words. I think it's very important - not just interesting but really relevant as to what politically "right" usually represents. and also what politically "left" usually represents - as in "left out" or "left behind" etc.

of course all that blather needs to be followed with hobbitish ..."if you get my drift so to speak."

But, I'm sure I'm "right" about it. tee hee hee (and I've said nothing that hasn't been said before by others more eloquent than me.)

Don't know if I dare say this after the last sermon.... BUT, that does sound RIGHT to me.

Could be. Maybe they should pass a law against making red-eye gravy with water.

Yup. That's about it in my book too.

As far as the bacon goes, it's all gone! Sorry!

Lunch is ready though.

Baked chicken (it isn't dry!), mashed potatoes and gravy, corn on the cob, baked beans and cole slaw. I've fried some chicken as well, for those who don't give a hoot about cholesterol. *grin* Garden salads for everyone, just let me know what dressing you want. ENJOY!

It's great that right from the beginning you can spot the difference - with Isildur being attacked and it is actually shown how he ends up floating down river with arrows stuck in him.

My favorite added scenes have to be Moria and the gift-giving sequence (Galadriel). Those two made all the difference to me.

It's probably a part of the strategy in the war of northern aggression.
