Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

50° is not chilly. We're supposed to be down to 16° tonite.
But thanks for breakfast.

Weather-dude said this a.m. that we may be getting 5 inches Thursday night. On the same radio station, the weather person says it's going to be a shovel event while the news reporter person says maybe only flurries.

"Remington 700."
I love that rifle, have one in .270, it's my favorite gun. I suppose yours is in .300winmag?

50° is not chilly. I'm a thin-blooded Floridian. My definition of chilly is anything under 70 degrees. LOL!
We're supposed to be down to 16° tonite.
That just ain't right! I would perish!
But thanks for breakfast.
You are very welcome, Master Dwarf. I enjoy cyber-cooking for all of you!

Freepmail me that potato soup recipe, WN! You have mail. It's long. Read the thing to make sure it makes sense first. Let me know if you try it how it works.

Virginia had "Lee-Jackson-King Day." I like it. I like it a lot.
To: Corin Stormhands
Hey Corin, I think that Imelda thing is in most women, I believe they really love shoes. Lots and lots of them really accumulate shoes and think about them all the time. Any mall has 5 times as many ladies' shoe stores than anything else. It's weird, but true, IMO.
Wish I could be there for the snow...chilly here last night, but due to be in the 70's this afternoon.
Jackson was a something of an unusual character, along with being a great tactical general, I have heard. "Let us cross over the river and rest under the shade of the trees."
I believe Lee to have been a fine person. Seems like they deserve a holiday.
To: Sam Cree
Seems like they deserve a holiday. I agree. Of course here in Richmond, we're still fighting the War of Northern Agression...

Remind me to give you a call the next time I'm facing an adventure...Will do. Even my day job, computer support, is intended to remove "adventures" from the client by dropping them in my lap, instead. Adventures are just one step above "learning experiences".
If you look at the Shire, the hobbits work very hard to produce the huge amounts of food, drink, and pipeweed they need to relax when they're not working so hard. They have no time left for "adventures", and the human race would be better off if more countries followed that example.
America has a strong streak of hobbit in it, which is good. However, when really provoked, America becomes more like a nation of pissed-off Ents.

No snow for awhile, here! Or not much. Just sub-zero cold.
Speaking of shovels, my latest toy is one of those big snow scoop things - they're almost like a sled with a long handle. You push it to scoop up a bunch of show, then sled it over to where you want to dump it and just tilt up - no lifting. I got it to shovel my driveway with, but hardly got to try it out as my brothers came over and wanted to play with it. Kind of a Tom Sawyer moment, I guess. But it's fun to use!

You gotta change your tag line IMELDA THE FRUGAL!

My definition of chilly is anything under 70 degrees. LOL! I'm 100% in agreement with you Ruthy GMTA

However, when really provoked, America becomes more like a nation of pissed-off Ents. I hope so.
To: 300winmag
So yes, I'm afraid of adventures too, because they disturb the dullness I seek in life. That's why it's important to have enough gadgets to keep adventures at bay. LOL! Words to live by...

John Mosby was another interesting character, an early guerrilla warrior.
After the war he became friends with Grant who sent him to Hong Kong, where he cleaned up some kind of something or other.
