Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.
Whooo hoooo as this road goes ever on and on it just keeps getting better and better!
"Imelda" would fit nicely in the keywords...
We watched it last week. You were right not to watch it when you didn't want to concentrate. You need to pay attention. It was weird, but I liked it better once I realized it was sposed to be weird.
Bwaahaa haahaa
But, Master Dwarf, remember, Imelda would never have concerned herself with a)price b)buying American or c)getting the 10%discount with the new Kohl's account.
Therefore, please amend that to Imelda the Cheap.
then you'd probably have to add my name to that list too -- and it'd probably fit several other HHD females.
I've not seen that one all the way through. It was on Bravo last year and I watched part of it. Willem Dafoe seemed a bit lethargic in the role.
I have a co-worker who swears it's not as offensive as we were lead to believe. So maybe it won't be as bad as you think.
Hahahahahaha!
I had a conversation about this last night at home with Myranda. Since she's about to graduate high school Jen's dilema with this kind of hit home.
We had an interesting and lengthy discussion on the topic. I won't go into all that here... it would be too long and boring. Suffice it to say, that we decided those of us who are opinionated and vocal would find this a good opening to say what we think - in a good way of course.
LOTS. Great what homemade soup, nice cozy chatter with daughter and lots of sleep can do.
Me too, which is why I always carry tools with me to help tame the adventure. Bilbo left his house without even a handkerchief. Not me. A hankie and pocket knife in my pocketsses at all times, a LED flashlight on my keychain, a combo screwdriver/pen, pen/stylus/laser pointer, and hemostat in pockets on my eyeglass case, and I'm good to go.
Gadgets help tame adventures. The front side of my briefcase has albums of CDs to do software work. The back side has my cable tester, DVM, and enough tools to dissassemble anything smaller than a refrigerator and bigger than a Swiss watch. For the really big adventures, there's my trusty Glock 21, and Remington 700.
So yes, I'm afraid of adventures too, because they disturb the dullness I seek in life. That's why it's important to have enough gadgets to keep adventures at bay.
Remind me to give you a call the next time I'm facing an adventure...
They say the weather's gonna get bad here too. I tried to get everyone to finish their assignments for today's class on Monday. But, I have 3 guys here working. argh... Hopefully they'll be done by 10...and I don't have night class tonight. So, I'm heading by the store on my way home and making some homemade potato soup and homemade bread for today. Sounds good in the cold doesn't it?
Hehehe....that's what I did yesterday. Just the mention of the four-letter word is enough to start a run at the grocery store. They're still not sure what it's going to do here.
My boss is out of town, so I am relaxing here in the office wearing sweatpants and a sweatshirt, hanging in the Hobbit Hole. Life doesn't get any better. LOL!
It's nice and chilly here this morning - in the 50s or low 60s. Lovely! Sunny and clear.
Let's have some breakfast, shall we?
Bacon, egg and cheese biscuits with fried ham slices and sausage links. Everything is also prepared separately, just in case you want to skip the biscuit. *grin*
Coffee is on and the juices are chilled.
I have a pot of homemade chicken noodle soup on the hot plate for Wneighbor or anyone who wants some feel-good food today. :)
ENJOY!
You know, I wondered about that yesterday. I thought maybe I'd misunderstood and you ALL wanted some. But, I had thought we were only looking for you some.
Weather-dude said this a.m. that we may be getting 5 inches Thursday night. The non-PC person in me hopes we do.
Our county school board has gotten tons of grief over the fact that they scheduled MLK,Jr. day as a snow/sniper make-up day. They've also handled it really poorly, basically saying "if it's important to you don't come to school" (stoopid).
But in Virginia, Friday is a state holiday for "Lee-Jackson Day" (yes THAT Lee and THAT Jackson). Lee-Jackson Day was a state holiday for years. When MLK, Jr. Day came along at the federal level, Virginia had "Lee-Jackson-King Day." Last year, the Governor decided Friday should be "Lee-Jackson Day" and Monday should be MLK, Jr. Day, giving those on the state schedule a four-day weekend. (Even though I benefit from that, I think it's ridiculous)
So, I'm thinking it would be a great bit of poetic justice if they had to declare schools closed for Lee-Jackson Day...
