The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Journey to the Cross-roads

The Two Towers Edition

Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

...but is it you I'm thinking of that is really young?

I think JenB is our youngest official Hobbit Hole Dweller.

ecurbh is not a kid! He's a real live grown-up. I will let him give the details. Jen is our youngest dweller.

Yes...that's it. Jen's 19, I think.

Ecurb is what? 28? 29 years old?

Oh - and by the way.... my new monitor arrived today! - It is beautiful! - Bigger than the monitor I had! - (19 inch vs. 17 inch!)

But, as I predicted when I was on the phone with them, It was not the monitor that was/is broken. My display is still hideous!

Tomorrow, they send a new video card. I appreciate the gift of the monitor and all, but they could have just sent the video card on Friday!

Well, we're glad about the monitor. Sorry you have to wait for the video card. But, at least, as you said this weekend, you are getting both new items! Good deal to me!

Wow! THat's great! On my old PC...the monitor was the only thing I ever had trouble with, other than it just being slow and obsolete....

Yes, yes. I'll be more than willing to see if they can get drunk.

LOL If you have a boyfriend, aren't you afraid he might not understand???

I tried to convince my husband to grow his hair out long, like Faramir's (because it's the same color, about). He just rolled his eyes at me...

OT: well, lakes in Kansas are almost like that, except for the trees and blue water; if you squint the Lakes of Missouri look just like that. :-)

Sam: Remember it as well, I believe he was sitting down, shot two or three arrows through the screen or wall, and the all ended up in a gate post, about touching each other. I think it was Richard Chamberlin, "Angin-san", who said he would leave them in place, as a tribute to the archer, Moko(?). The Japanese 'Yumi' bow is remarkable in its design, laminated bamboo, asymetrical, handle at the lower one third of the bow with two angles in the upperlimb. Fascinating design. Sorry, you mentioned something remotely archery related. :-)

Hey, you know what? You're the person I need to talk to!

My eldest jedi (age 7) has one of these toy bows, with foam tipped arrows. He can shoot the sucker like you would not believe, clear across the house! He hits targets and everthing with it!! He really loves shooting it and we were thinking of going with a real bow sometime in the near future...and perhaps getting him some lessons.

Any advice?

Ecurb, I can't imagine you being 16...but is it you I'm thinking of that is really young?

I used to be 16, but that was about half my lifetime ago. I have now reached the ripe old age of 30, but I guess technically that means I am still in my tweens.

2JM: lol, not a bad idea, but have ever seen a Ranger with an ear trumpet? Actually, amplification of sound in that ear just makes for louder gobley-gook.

Guess what?! I arrived home to find a DOUBLE treat! Your cookies and my whistles, too! I'm just now getting to mess around with the whistles as two of my brothers came over to do laundry and watch a movie, but we sampled the cookies already. Wow, are they ever good! My brothers agreed, though I had to do a lot of explaining as to where I got 'em. ;-)

Anyone up for chatting for a few? I gotta get to bed in half an hour or so, but if anyone's around...
