Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Well you can kind of see her feet here, but they are partially obsured, so its hard to tell...
To: Ramius
Good morning, Ramius!
To: HairOfTheDog; ecurbh
She is obviously hiding her feet..... They must be a sight! I wouldn't kick her out of a backgammon room...
To: ecurbh
mmmm... hips...
To: ecurbh
I have yet to spot any apparent flaw, podiatric or [ahem] otherwise.
To: ecurbh; Ramius
She appears to have mastered the 'come hither' look.... If you can master that, your feet, or that fact that you have apparently tripped over them in the woods wearing an evening gown..... will usually go unnoticed.

(MBY, hope you're okay I'm postin' this).
MBY says Frodo's shipping box is growing heavier and he is perhaps in need of Elvish medicine. MBY has ministered healing to him, but alas time was growing short and he had to depart her care. I do not have any Kingsfoil available (not that it would have healing powers in my hands anyway).
Yet I would hope that in the company of the dwarves he will find healing and strength.
Hair: Shall I assess the situation and mend appropriately?
SuziQ: It should not be a problem for me to ship him from the beach on Tuesday. I would prefer to send him to your house rather than Montana. But I'm happy with you and Hair making the call.
To: HairOfTheDog
apparently tripped over them in the woods wearing an evening gown...HA! On that note, I'm off to shower and get some breakf...er....lunch.
To: Corin Stormhands; My back yard
I am glad I know what you are talking about already Corin!
I hear that Frodo's fold is wearing, and got a little wet which made it worse... I think to a large extent, we expected this, and I can't tell without seeing if there is anything at all we should do to fix it. Frodo becoming more and more weathered as he goes will be part of the story.
MBY, did you take any photos that show the situationh? I think if we could see, we could decide if he should be taped or touched up. If we decide to touch him up, a dark felt marker or something would make a line that might be less apparent than the white one.
I am gonna guess we can't tape it..... If we did try to tape it, it would have to be done folded, or he won't be able to bend anymore.
To: Corin Stormhands
OK, send him on to my house in MA. I'll freepmail the addy.
To: Corin Stormhands; ecurbh
I wouldn't kick her out of a backgammon room... Boy, I would sure try!
To: HairOfTheDog
I have some acrylic paints which may work. I'll check him when he gets to me and I'll play with some colors. I could do some blending and sponging to see if that would work.
To: SuziQ
Yeah - we'll have to take a look.
SINCE WE HAVEN'T SEEN ANY RECENT PICTURES we can't tell how he is doing until we get our reports in! HA!
I do think that Frodo weathering as he goes is part of the story.... If he looked brand new at the end, it wouldn't look like he had traveled far.
To: HairOfTheDog
It's a dangerous thing, going out your door...
To: HairOfTheDog; My back yard
From the day Gandalf first told us about the ring, we knew that there would be risks associated with this journey.
It is not easy for us to watch our little friend suffer while all along we cannot comprehend the weight of the burden he carries.
We have not the skill of the Elvish healers, but we dwarves can be quite resourceful. We will provide rest and comfort to Mr. Frodo when he arrives. And we shall apprise you if it appears best that he travel to the house of *cough* *sputter* *ahem* Elrond.
To: Ramius
...if you don't keep your feet, there's no telling where you'll be swept off to.
To: HairOfTheDog
Back later. Asst. troll wants to meet again...
At least Rasputin isn't here today.
To: ecurbh
I am goin' on my walk. Before it gets hot and I have a good excuse.
To: Corin Stormhands; HairOfTheDog; All
Dropping in for a little while.
That Hugh Hewitt column comparing the current international situation to that in TLOTR wasn't a surprise to any of us, I dare say!
Just saw the dentist. He gave me an estimate well into 4 figures. That's what comes from neglecting your teeth, I suppose!
