Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Good evening everyone!
Went to my sister's and tried to watch Treasure Planet but it's just impossible. I am SO allergic to cats that my right eye nearly swelled shut (she only has one). I'm here typing with one eye practically closed. LOL!
I put some Visine in it and took my contacts off, so it feels better already. But what REALLY made my eye feel better is my lovely child tax credit check I just received in the mail! YIPPEE!!!
Thanks President Bush!

Maybe I should clarify one of my sentences above. My sister only has one CAT not one eye! LMAO!

I got your drift! Take a couple antihystamines!
To: proud_2_B_texasgal
Ksen .. did you see my post about how close we were when I was in FL. I passed Jupiter Rd everyday ..Yep, I saw that. Man, it's too bad that we couldn't meet up being so close and all.
Will you and Mr. P2B be able to make Entmoot? The main group will be staying down in Melbourne Beach.

er.... that would be
Antihistamines "antihystamines" would probably require a gynocologist.

[sip] still trying to wake my brain up. It's 92I should say you do. You're about ten years behind, it's 2003 not 1992.

Black smoke -- dark purply color actually. It completely occluded Mt. Rainier from west Olympia. Who knows? The news has had nothing about it. But it looked like right at Ft. Lewis or McChord...so the news may not get out as quickly, if it's not an immediate emergency for the surrounding community.
To: Scott from the Left Coast
Maybe it was a big structure fire.
To: ksen
Now it is 93..... I don't wanna see 03
To: Ramius
It was beyond Lacey. The view of it from Nisqually hill must've been incredible...from the top of the hill on the westside it covered about 1/3 of the horizon with a huge purple "mushroom stem" that went up a few thousand feet.
To: HairOfTheDog
I don't know any structures that big in that area???? This was huge (hugh, I mean).
To: Scott from the Left Coast; HairOfTheDog
Hmmm... Could be:
-- Wild fire, or controlled burn. Rising heat and smoke could easily look like a mushroom cloud if low level winds were slight. There's enough of them this time of the year that it wouldn't necessarily be breaking news.
-- Structure fire, like hair said. Though, you'd think something that big would have been reported.
-- Firing range at Ft. Lewis. They do shoot live shots there, though generally not that big. No tactical nuke testing (that I know of).
To: Scott from the Left Coast
I can't imagine!
To: Ramius
Odd to think they'd do a controlled burn today of all days...with the fire danger at it's very highest anyway.
To: Scott from the Left Coast
I doubt a control burn.... wouldn't burn black... and with the heat and inversion, they are talking about air quality being poor. We need some blasted wind.
To: Ramius
No tactical nuke testing (that I know of). Rotfl!
To: Scott from the Left Coast
Well, yeah, except now is when you *need* to do the controlled burns. It's the *control* part that is most important.
I've seen some of those before that looked a helluvalot like a mushroom cloud, and lots of red and brown in the cloud. Especially in stagnant air. The more I think about it... I wonder if that isn't the most likely explanation.
