The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Hey those were a hoot!
I scored 10.25641% on the geek test and 65% on the snob test.
To: Scott from the Left Coast
Elves should do well on the snob test. :^) Don't you think?
I didn't do the geek test. Was kind of busy. Need to go back and look that one up.

The snob test told me that I wasn't really a snob...but had enough snob-like tendencies that I was in danger of it and suggested some low-brow remedial activities.
But I can't really do the low-brow stuff because I'm not a dwarf.

I am done with chapter 2, and I can stop for now!
I think it is just getting to the good part with the trainer Smith, he just came to Howard's barn. I can pick it up there later on!
I need to clean stalls and move around a bit, then I will be able to sit again for awhile and play! - How about 20 minutes or so? - H:40? I'll check here and there when I get back in.

hey all... sorry I ain't been here answerin' yer pings... mydad came down to help build a shed to put the guineas and chickens in... as usual, a one-day project turned into two... mostly self-inflicted.... improper tools, lack of AC power, tryin' to recycle materials that were here instead of buyin' new...
it turned out great... overkill fer a coop, but I figgered my lawn tractor will look great in there if the birds don't work out... we just attached it to thew old horse barn where I keep my tractor and heavy equipment. still need to put up chicken wire, but it's 97% complete...

osage, travel safe friend.
corin, keep 'em honest...

Did the mescaline just kick in? Or
was that Debbie Reynolds in a
silver Afro wig?!
To: g'nad
Ah, devil ether. It makes you
behave like the village drunkard in
some early Irish novel... total
loss of all basic motor skills;
blurred vision, no balance, numb
tongue --
(throws away kleenex)
The mind recoils in horror, unable
to communicate with the spinal
column. Which is interesting,
because you can actually watch
yourself behaving in this terrible
way, but you can't control it.

That is a FANTASTIC coop! I don't know about guineas, but chickens require one nest box for ever four hens and 8" of roost space. We put hay on the bottom our our coop to make it easy to fork out and clean.
I just got in. After Steve came home mid-way through his work day, I took a much needed nap. The doctor appt was extremely stressful and I just collapsed after Steve came in. Slept for two hours and when I got up, Steve had the car packed and ready to go to a spring-fed creek. I still couldn't see very well, but I enjoyed sitting in the trees watching the boys play in the little rapids and swim in the "deep part" which was about 2 and a half feet deep. A nice pebbly creek. Gradually my vision cleared (as much as possible.)
The creek was in an Amish community so we went to a restaurant of all you can eat home cooked food prepared by the Amish ladies. It was delicious!!
So we just got in a few minutes ago. I'm already exhausted, so I'm going to spiff up and go to bed!

Very good coop g'nad! I think 2J will approve!Approve? I think she'd see it as a grand canvas for her artistic coop designs. Chickens that live in artsy coops, and have classical music piped in, are happier and healthier.
