Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

I owned a pair of chukkas in college!
To: Overtaxed
Does that explain why all the rooms in my new house are white? I hate it.

I'm not sure Suzi. I got kind of tired of the snobbishness of Mama's society. But, some of it just sticks with ya, ya know?

Some progress. Real Estate Lady said paint it neutral colors....institution colorsJust cause she said neutral doesn't have to mean un-interesting. Think Taupe, or Sage. Those are neutrals today, and seem to be very popular. I don't like them, but then my kitchen is painted "Rushing River" which is a blue that looks blue-green when the lighting is low in the evenings. I like color!!

Some of those questions really needed an option C. Not sure if that would change my snob status or anything, but...

Yep. They call it Guerilla Marketing. They also show the houses with all window coverings drawn and all lights on so the place looks bigger. They had us do the same thing when we were selling our place. Luckily we had a good location, so I didn't bother with repainting. The paint was fine, it just wasn't a "neutral" color. New owners will probably paint it themselves I figure. They'll buy it if it fits for them and is clean.

I hate this institutional color scheme. But, I hate painting worse. Therefore, I just try to cover the walls with junk. Hey, it's my decor scheme.

Holy cow! I don't feel so bad about my 48% anymore.
tsk, tsk, 63% for a DWARF!? I just can't picture a dwarf buying international Brie.

I did like the questions about Camilla Parker Bowles and Benny Hill though...Heh!

tsk, tsk, 63% for a DWARF!? I just can't picture a dwarf buying international Brie. Heck, the elf didn't even answer positively to THAT one. But the dwarf did have a higher snob score than the elf. Perhaps we all need to re-evaluate the stereotypes here!!!

You liked those? I was indifferent about the Camilla question. But, Benny Hill is just stupid! Glad you liked it though.

Hah! Well I finally got in. No access to FR all morning. Guess you don't really realize how addicted you are 'till you have to go a morning without.
Well, it's FRIDAY! Happy day!
And, it's the 25th of July-
Happy Christmas in July!!!
The office roomies aren't in today, so I'm playing loud Christmas music. I have this great CD of carols arranged for bagpipes... ;)
To: Lil'freeper
One of my closest friends used to always have a Christmas party in July. Complete with tree, food and a white elephant gift exchange. We all live so far apart now. But, I miss that.

28% Snob.
Keep trying, Ruthy, and you just may qualify for the VIP lounge before the year is out. In the meantime, be aware that at 28% you are to the world of snobs what Fergie was to the British Royal Family: an embarassment. When you're next at a party, remember that the person everyone's pointing and laughing at is you.
I don't know if I should feel good or bad about this.

I was into the grunge look during it's appearance on college 'campi' in the early 70's; Flannel shirts, jeans, chukka boots. My Mama always fussed at me cause I didn't dress nicely for class. I didn't see the need.
