The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Journey to the Cross-roads

The Two Towers Edition

Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

GAK! Nurse Rachit!

I loved that movie! A VERY young Brad Dourif was in it.

I used a sit-on-top for three different excusions. I liked it a lot and if I had more than one kayak I would have a sit-on-top. It's a lot different than a regular one and I really like them. But, they don't really work for all purposes so I got one that is an all-purpose boat.

Since my boat is old and discontinued I'm having trouble finding a photo. Guess I could go to the garage and photo huh?

Kayaks and colonoscopies. Quite the wide-ranging conversation here tonight.

Hasnt used it in a while, but after we move into our new home, hope to use it again...we have a nice little creek that runs right behind the property...and a man-made lake in the subdivision...

Gotta sign off. The kids and I went to see Johnny English this afternoon;silly, but funny. When we got home I was tired, so I took a nap and woke up about 9:30. I guess I never really woke up from it, so I'm gonna go back to bed!

See y'all in the morning.

There are a lot of pretty big boats that generate surfable wakes though, and that would be a regular part of kayaking out here. That, and it's pretty common in some parts of the sound to have a nice gentle two or three foot roller that is just always there all day.

Only time I rolled the boat was when a jet skier decided to do donuts around my boat!

only one of that sort. but, imo, childbirth, broken bones, crashed motorcyle -- all these are better than that.

Now for me creeks and little lakes are the ideal places to kayak. Do you know where Meridian State Park is? That's my normal haunt.

Hey, I have to apologize for not responding to your other post about a trip out here...time seems to just get away from me sometimes. You let us know when you can come and I'll make a trip to the store for a new ice cream maker!

I can't say that I've ever had the pleasure of a colonoscopy, but I did have my tubes tied after James was born. I wasn't put all the way out but whatever they gave me made it really hard to complete a thought much less get it out of my mouth.

We thought you might find this photo amusing. The Barred Rock must have needed to get away from the ninja guineas which are always on the move.

goodnight all.....

I actually tried to stay conscious, because I thought I would die if I went to sleep! But I was driving my pulse rate up (I was paying attention to it) and decided to lay back and try to relax and maybe I'd live!

She should have been ashamed, slamming me with that medicine! Versed...very potent stuff that CAN kill a person if given incorrectly...I was once certified to administer it and you're supposed to give it slowly and cautiously. She nearly blew my vein, she pushed it in so hard and I gasped in pain and disbelief...and she knew she'd done wrong, and I'd witnessed it. So she perched and waited. She didn't count on my focusing in on everything going on around me...until I lost consciousness.

The hag. I tell you, most nurses are great, but there are some that must have such miserable lives that they feel they have to take it out on the helpless patients they are supposed to be caring for.
