Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

There will be NO backgammon. There will be minors present...
You know, in Europe, people play backgammon in public.
To: Overtaxed
Enough Irish Car Bombs and you won't remember the tattoo. And you'll only know you did the chicken dance from my photos!

"We" will be doing Irish Car Bombs, the Hallelujah Back Bend Greeting and the Chicken Dance at Entmoot.
Not necessarily in that order... Hmmm. I think some of them will HAVE to have the Irish Car Bombs (or an equivalent adult beverage) before they'll get up to do the Chicken Dance!

They're not too hasty. I've been tellin' 'em to git for the last seven years... Go ahead and lie to 'em and tell 'em I've found the entwives. By the time they get here I'll tell 'em the entwives moved on.

I'm taking the photo. Besides, you won't be able to see me cuz I'll have a lampshade on my head.

I got the chat page at Khazaddum. Is there a link somewhere there for the article?

(So are the g'nad kids and the Stormhands kids "minor miners?")

Wow. That's a long one. What kind of kayaking are you planning to do? This would be difficult to maneuver in running streams. But, good for flat water.
I know, you didn't ask me. You asked Suzi.

I think it is buried in that thread, that is why I was gonna read it when it was quieter.
To: Corin Stormhands
You know, quite honestly it was the worst thing I've ever been thru, but situations like that you learn to laugh
You have to laugh or you will just go crazy. Laughter is a gift from God, and He knows how to show a lady or a gentleman a good time, with laughter.
To: Corin Stormhands
Yeah and the wimmin don't shave. What's her point?
Only that Europeans don't seem to be as uptight about these things...
To: Ramius
The one we got is mentioned on the Wilderness website
HEREThis middle aged fat chick fit in the Pungo 140 just fine! Most importantly, I think I'll be able to get in and out of it with a reasonable amount of grace. The larger cockpit was very important to me for that reason! ;o)
When they say 'lounge chair' in talking about the seat, they actually MEAN it! It seemed very comfortable to me. I'll let you know on Sunday afternoon after I've spent a good part of the morning sitting in it!
To: HairOfTheDog; Corin Stormhands
Only that Europeans don't seem to be as uptight about these things... Yeah, but Corin don't want Jr. to get some kind of idea that he can start backgammoning with just anybody!

We got the RED one! It almost matches my van!!
To: Wneighbor
You're into kayaking? I'm a sub-novice. Only done it once, but it looks like a great and fun way to get some exercise... and lord knows I could use that. Got to get out of the house a little.
This boat would never see a creek or river. I'll be on puget sound. Need a sea kayak. Long and stable is good in this context methinks.

Ramius's house.

HA! You didn't ask me, you asked Ramius!

Just a reminder: I'll be doing the ordering of our "commemorative" pocketknife tomorrow morning, so you have until then to freepmail me and let me know to order one for you. This is a knife
for yourself, and is apart from the one's we're sending to Iraq.
No money is required yet, but I estimate the price in the $22-$26 range, with engraving and postage to you. But please let me know by tomorrow, because I'll be ordering online around noon or so. Thanks.
