The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Journey to the Cross-roads

The Two Towers Edition

Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

But, now what do you do? Plant them there? Plant them at The House? or fly 'em back to KC?

I dug all my stuff up when I moved. Bulbs, rhizomes, perennial herbs, roses, no trees though. If the trees wanted to come they could have made like ents and walked.

one could play it in a kayak in whitewater ~if~ one wanted....

Hey, we got a kayak yesterday! I don't plan to be doing an white water kayaking, though! SSQ had taken a morning class in kayaking a few weeks ago and just fell in love with it. Clare and I are going to do the same class on Sunday morning. We got a Wilderness 'Pungo 140', a 14 footer. SSQ had read some reviews of it that were quite complimentary, and we sat in one at the store to check the ease of getting in and out of it, at least on dry land. I'll be using it on Sunday, and Clare and I will try some others they'll have there to get a feel for some others. We even got a car top carrier for it!

SSQ plans to get two more (Joseph is NOT interested at all, but maybe we can convince him later.)We're gonna go to a place over near Boston to try out some others. I'd like to find a tandem so Joseph could go with us, but that is manageable enough to take out with just one person.

OH! You will like this!!! I did what SSQ did. Took a class one weekend. Then I was hooked. Hmmmm... can't remember what year it was but 2 weeks after the class I entered a race. It was 42 miles down the Brazos River. I won 1st place in women's single!!!! Used to have a trophy somewhere.
