Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Trust me, once you let go if the idea that you are going to see every little detail from the books portrayed accurately in the film you will enjoy the films much more.

We left the theatre last night and when we got to the car there were two guys leaning on the next car over and one guy was irate over the changes he had seen. His arms were flying, his cigarette was bobbing all over the place, and he was getting kind of loud. I was thinking "Sheesh, it's only a movie!"

Just enjoy the films for what they are: PJ's vision of Tolkien's story. Which, btw, is probably the best we will ever see put to screen. I will always treasure the books and the films.

My Dad got a seagull with a golf ball one time down at Hilton Head....a birdie nyuck, nyuck, nyuck. Poor guy felt bad about it.

I got an armored personnel carrier with one shot from a 155mm howitzer, and a good SWAG on my part. I felt great about it.

(Don't worry, it was an old wreck on the target range.)

Thanks Hair. I'm glad the Texas Mini-Moot was a success. I hope the Florida one in a couple weeks will be successful as well.

Next time you watch TTT take a look at the Uruk that Saruman orders to go after the people heading to Helm's Deep with his warg riders. That is the same Uruk whose warg takes Aragorn over the cliff.

This third viewing "got" me more than the previous two. I am starting to see more of the subtleties like the catch in Gimli's voice when he tells Eowyn that Aragorn fell *sniff*, Legolas' look at Theoden when Theoden tells Gamling(?) to leave the dead[after they repulse the warg riders], etc.

I love this film. ;^)

I am so glad you love this film! - It would suck if we all hated it! And it looked a little rough at first!

I would still like to cut it myself and let each story run longer between switches, but I love it too.

No, but as a lowly spec5 who had just driven the major up to the OP, I was asked to show all the new second lieutenants how "the pros" did it. I jumped back in the jeep and hauled ass out of there before I had to do it again.

Actually, it was the skill in estimating distances that I picked up in hunting and target shooting that did the trick. And good luck.

I don't believe in relying on luck when technology is available. That's why I have a laser rangefinder now.

I have two book critiques to write. One is two double-spaced pages and the other is four pages so it shouldn't take me too long.
