Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Mae govannen!!
Well, I made it. The drive went really well, and we made it in 28 hours. It got a bit windy through Iowa, which made the car kind of hard to handle, what with all the weight and the rooftop carrier. But it feels good to finally be here, and have that part of it overwith.
Got lots of stuff to take care of these next few days, but I'll be around as much as possible. And all my friends up here are planning a trip to see TTT next week. Much fun!
Thanks again for all the prayers during the move! And thanks Hair for the pinging assistance. :D

Cool, Hair!
I am also on a shooting thread...I just in the nick of time erased my tag line about what fine and estimable hobbits we are before posting there. They are discussing merits of military type rifles mostly and marksmanship.
To: HairOfTheDog
I think everyone is getting a little off topic on that thread, here is the latest post:
Don't lowrate the Red Ryder BB gun. I killed a bat in my Mom's attic with my Dad's and it was '40's vintage. (I taped a Maglite to the barrel and my Mom's comment before I climbed up the ladder was "Go get 'em Omega Man") Tijeras Slim

I killed a squirrel with a Daisy BB gun....I think it was a Daisy.

Welcome back! - You can settle down for awhile I hope!
To: Sam Cree
Forgetting that you have an inappropriate tag line is a bad thing!
It will always be a problem I am afraid, this new toy!

Besides, wouldn't the caramel and chocolate (yum) stick to the leaf wrappers?Yeah, but then you get to lick the gooey stuff off the leaves!!

I admire anyone who likes it. I could never do that whole finance thing for a living- ugh.In my life B. C (before children, up to 1979), I was a 'loan arranger' for a Savings and Loan. I enjoyed it immensely! It was a branch office, so I did it all, took applications, processed them, took the application to the 'Loan Committee' (which included the branch manager, the other two loan arrangers and me!), did the loan closing and entered the info into the banks computer system. That was the first time I ever worked on a computer where I actually got to see on the monitor what I was inputting into the system.
The first time I dealt with computers was in college, seven years earlier, where I did the card punching, then took the cards to the place where they created the printouts. I had to wait until the next day to get the printout! Thank God times have changed in that regard!!

My friend once shot a seagull out of the sky with a BB gun - he can't hit anything with a shotgun, or any other kind of gun, so everyone was incredulous, especially the people in other boats, who were not that pleased with us.
