Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Cassie was rescued by the DA... which means they are probably going to involve her in a love triangle between him and the once-evil-but-now-possibly-reformed brother of her dead husband.

Well, it is a heck of a news day.... now four major breaking stories, Eiffel tower is on fire, Jessica comes home, BB player probably found in Waco, Uday and whatshisname probably killed.... Your legislature having a tantrum just had to go I guess! And on top of that, I may have (note the emphasis) made a major score on the engraving of our pocketknives.
I stopped by the little father-and-son trophy company. Explained our situation to the son, he commended us for our efforts. Then he quoted me $9 per knife for laser engraving each knife. As the laser cuts into the metal, it also burns a black chemical into the engraved area, making it permanently black. The samples I saw looked nice.
But I sputtered about the price, and asked him about mechanical engraving. He said they could do that, but the results would be "white on white", and cost us $3-$5 each. I told them I'd be back as soon as I have a sample.
On my way out, I got inspired, and asked him if we could get a price break if they also put their logo on the knives. He thought about it, then said he'd talk to his father, who was just walking in as I left.
Not only do I feel positive about this operation, but the company's name is "Highest Honor", and this their logo. Not a bad match for the Hobbit Hole?

If they give us a great deal, I'll buy another knife for them to keep as our way of saying thanks for our troops.
These troop support projects are great because they have taught me some smart buying and deal-making skills.
