Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Realized we needed to do something significant with our lives because we were too old to die young... I vote for that too. It's unanimous so far.

That is very cool WN! - Recognition! Wow!

Hair & All, Good Evening, no way to catch up so "nexted" ahead. Quite a change from yesterday (Sunday at MoJAM) to being at the office at 6:30 in coat & tie for a mini-van trip for client meetings all day. Culture shock big time.
Peter Hathaway Chapstick, great author, Death in Silent Places is good too (do I sense a theme here?) There is a third one, but I can't remember the title, but it begins with Death as well.
To: Corin Stormhands
It's labeled "Things I Want to Do Before I Die." Is that the list yer talkin' about? I had one of those, but then after the bungee deal, I decided to go back and stike out the items that actually might be the *mechanism* by which the rest of the list might not be finished. Shortened the list somewhat.
To: Ramius
Well, since I've already sort of committed myself to dying in some way that does not involve my children choosing a nursing home, I suppose this way is as good as any!
And I should enjoy the trip. One final large adrenaline rush!

I think death is a big theme with him!
I think it is OK to 'next' the thread once in awhile.... you probably didn't miss much, if you caught the Kenya theme and the part about Corin's dog having colitis.
Other than that it was all 'land masses I resemble'.
To: Ramius; Wneighbor
Well, I've edited my "hike the Grand Canyon" to "raft the Grand Canyon"....
I'm not to far from "Put Grand Canyon on my Netflix queue"....

Shortened the list somewhat. No wonder you're sitting around taking few risks with the chicks. Don't want to die at the hands of a woman huh?

Don't want to die at the hands of a woman huh? Hey, I saw Basic Instinct!
To: Corin Stormhands
The Grand Canyon has kind of moved around on my list too. Not sure where it is now. Frankly, quite a few things on my list have gone from physically challenging activities, to Harley Davidson challenging activities. I'll only be along for the ride!

Hey, well what about all those great "It's really hot today, isn't?" comments...you wouldn't want him/her to miss those.
To: Wneighbor
Very cool. Ever thought about running for office? Sounds kinda spooky, but it might be fun. Can't be any worse than bungee jumping, right?
One of my friends around town is pretty active in the WA state GOP. Knows most of the players. He's a city councilman in Gig Harbor. I made the *mistake* of telling him one night in our local watering hole that I might consider a run for a state office someday, in that we have some DEM incumbents in our precincts that just truly suck.
He looks over and gets all serious like... "really??" I've got Redhook Extra Special Bravery so of course I say "sure". sigh... things could get interesting...
To: mstar
True, it was important to note that pretty much everyone but ecurbh is hot today.
To: Wneighbor
One final large adrenaline rush! Oh yeah... that part will be no problem.
To: Corin Stormhands
I want to live long enough to be a burden to my children. You won't if suddenly they both begin treating you really crappy. Then you'll think..... hmmmmm ... better choices..... dangerous things on The List.

Well, I was on the rim of the Canyon right after college. That's when I bought the t-shirt that said "Hike the Grand Canyon."
That one was ruined when our apartment storage area flooded, but I had a friend replace it. Maybe it was a sign...
To: Corin Stormhands
Hey, I saw Basic Instinct! I didn't. I have no idea what you're talking about.
