The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Journey to the Cross-roads

The Two Towers Edition

Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

SSQ asked if it was some sort of 'mating dance'!

So it is, or it isn't? ;~D

the 'flap your hands like a beak' part has got me flummoxed

What you do is more like tuck your hands into your armpits, and move your elbows up and down like wings.

We hope to have a Hohse (long o) on the Rivah someday...

Rivahs rise.

Does this mean you'll be a goon tomorrow?

LOL! I'd forgotten about that part!

No.... that is step 2.... step one was beak flapping with your hands!

What do you reckon it would be 'rated'. Might it be something I could watch with our 15 y.o. daughter? She'll be studying Ancient Indus civilizations this year, and I'm always on the lookout for movies, etc.; visuals of the civilizations.

"Get your stuff together, you leave in a hour and a half."

Yikes! I hope she had packed light!

Good to see ya, Rosie! I thought about you when we were at 'The Flume' a couple of weeks ago! Got some pics of Flat Frodo there, but I haven't composed his story yet. Soon...

There could be a link right at the top of that page to the current thread... (To find us click here!) and that would be easy to update when we change threads... Or there could be an easy to find email address for those that are too shy or too confused to register here before saying hi. ecurbh could get that and be able to either report it, or help them get registered.

My first attempt at pricing engraving has left me a bit shaken. I was quoted $7 per item, for the first word. They think a URL would qualify as a single word. $3 per word after that, with names, dates, or initials $5.

This was at "Things Remembered", a big chain. They thought it was a great thing to do for the troops, but no offer on price breaks. I'll have to try someplace smaller, next. Glad the knives aren't here yet.

Hokay! - We won't get too excited worrying about what to put on them unless we an extraordinary deal on putting anything on them!

I've started moving everything to http://freeper.the-hobbit-hole.net. Still have a lot of work to do update all the links (none are working right now) but at least you can get an idea of what it will look like. I've added a link back here to the top right of each page.

You and me both, honey. Cept, I want mine on a nice quiet lake (no powerboats or jet-skis)!

I love the organization of the page that way, with the Chaplain project separated from the Index that way with its emblem.

Up at the top right, what about:

Where to find us:
FreeRepublic Forum - Hobbit Hole thread
The-Hobbit-Hole.net Forum
Your email

Just to make it a teensy bit clearer.

I'd say a PG-13. The movie has a very traditional view of sexuality, namely that it belongs within a marriage. The serious lovey-dovey scene is tastefully and artistically done. Candle light against the curve of a back, leg, etc but no T&A or grunting- thankfully. Hollywood should take note.

It has some theatrical violence- but it's within a cultural/historical context and is a consequence of immorality.

I'd feel very comfortable watching it in mixed company or with a teenager. And it is certainly 'discussable' film. Especially as example of how things like tradition and morality are present in all cultures. It's a very deep, wonderful movie- the kind that you dwell on for days. I'm certainly game for seeing more "Bollywood" fare.

Heh. Just popping my head in again... When I lived in Trinidad, before cable was available, we had one channel (cable wasn't available until maybe 1990's) and every weekend there was a showing of what we reffered to as The Indian Movie (We only have East Indians, The Indians who were native to the islands were called Amerindians and we are West Indians). Many people turned off the set, but to some of us it was great entertainment. Their comedies are really good too!LOL. See you guys later...

Well, for those of us whose jobs and lives are up in the air right now, it is a blessing that we don't have to pony up the cash now, and that there is more time.

It is not a bad thing for those of us whose jobs are NOT up in the air right now either. We're headin' to the beach in a couple of weeks. Would hate to say "no Jr. you can't ride the go carts again" 'cause I had to mail all my money to ksen. ;-)

(hullo! we are back from lunch. a good time was had by all)

Rivahs rise.

But this would be in the tidal basin. If the Rivah has risen that much, there ain't no dry ground left anyway...
