The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Journey to the Cross-roads

The Two Towers Edition

Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Never funkle on a Sunday. So I'll stop here.

Wife and Jr. have gone on to Sunday School/first service. Luke and I will join them for the 11:00 service.

Dog had another "episode" last night. Jr. took him out well after midnite...twice.

Well, good morning, Corin and others.... getting ready for church here but I'm not feeling very Christian this morning. I'm rather tempted to commit multiple fratricide... parents are out of town this weekend and the brothers are just being horrible. I think it's a very subtle form of abstinence promotion my parents are trying on us girls. At this rate I never want kids.

However, yesterday I went to B&N to get details on the Harry Turtledove book signing and broke down and bought four Miles Vorkosigan novels... my latest space opera kick, they're brilliant... don't think I'd have gotten through yesterday sane without them.

Morning Jen!!! Don't worry about the brothers. Got any rope around? You could tie them all up nicely ONE time and be better for it. Myranda's been telling me for a couple of years that her sister's kids were all the abstinence training that she needed. Now she's moved into the same house with them! Go figure?

Glad you got your books. Books IMO are the primary means of getting through tough circumstances in life. Escape mechanism if you will. Just keep on.

BTW, taken more photos this weekend? How about showing us your home? Hair and I loved your room!

Good morning! I'm watching Casablanca with my coffee [sip]. I put it on last night but fell asleep even before Else showed up.

Well, I got it set up to start in the VCR in case we were going to watch. But, I didn't ever even turn on the TV. Hope you enjoy it. I would watch it with you if I didn't have church in an hour.

I have a ministry function in Ft. Worth this afternoon. A wedding. I'm glad to be going. I have declined virtually all ministry functions for the last 6 months due to caring for Grama. It's time to get out and work again. AND, this wedding is at an outdoor blues bar that I enjoy so I'll have a nice time AND do the Lord's work.

I had an email from another friend last night about a guy that goes to her church that would like to meet me. I haven't answered her yet about whether I'm willing or not. To quote yesterday, I dunno..... I just dunno.

LOL!!!!

Heh...I was too busy FReeping last night to chat view. Right now the cheese-eating-surrender monkeys are outsinging the Germans. *Sigh* I'll never be able to watch those old war movies the same way again....I keep saying "let the Germans conquer their sorry butts!"

So this guy has to go through one of your girlfriends to ask you for a date? :)

You know, the singing used to be one of my favorite parts of the movie. Right up there with the part at the end where Rick has the cojones to do the right thing and leave the marriage intact and walk off into the desert to fight for good over evil. (or as we might say in the HH, he walked off into Mordor to destroy the precious.)

Yeah, he "mentioned" it to her. She emailed me. I'm supposed to email her back. And she would get with him.

Is this the equivalent of having my people call your people....

...and we'll do lunch. :)

Okay, I'm willing to cut the guy some slack if that's the only way he had to get in touch with you.

oh, I'll cut him some slack. But, only if there's a reason to.

Funny thing here though. Looking at this from a realistic point of view, the time of loss in one's life is the worst time to begin new romantic type relationships. It is recommended by most clergy and world psyciatric type people that one wait at least a year after a huge loss to try a new relationship. However, it seems that normal people want to push them at you.

Frankly, I know I'm nowhere near the emotional state to think about relationships. I just need friends.

Now, that's a man with priorities in order.

Lonely, but has priorities.

You're right. Not only a well stocked bar, but an entertaining domicile. A place to be entertained or be alone, according to one's preference. Not a bad life..... until the priority kicked in.

So what do you think is going on with him? - An adult dog ought to be able to hold it all night. Do the "episodes" look healthy and 'normal'?
