Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Yep...and the DVD player is working. At least it was this morning.

Ergh... back from the movie. My brothers are yelling and sulking. I'm almost at the end of my rope.
On the bright side, I gave in to temptation and bought the next four books in my current SF series, and I'm really enjoying them.

Does anyone else find dead wildlife when they clean house or just me? There was a dead mole in the hallway
And I had a good two day streak there where nothing was killed in my house.

This is an incredible story...I'll try to make it short, but you won't believe it.
Steve took me to a town to get some fresh "unhomogenized" milk from a dairy...the town is almost an hour away from where I live. It was meant to be a fun "drive around" trip. We got there, got the milk and ended up buying a bunch of other stuff like cheese and cream to make ice cream.
So we needed a cooler.
Just around the corner from the dairy was a convenience store, so we stopped to purchase a styrofoam cooler. The boys were at the candy aisle and were coercing me into a Slim Jim when I noticed a young man standing there looking at the candy too. He had on the 82nd Airborne All American emblem...on his tee-shirt, you know. I got up the nerve and said "Excuse me...are you in the Army?" and he replied "No, but my brother is...he's coming home today!" I said, "No kidding? Is he in the 82nd Airborne?" The young man said "Yes, he is!" I said, "May I ask where he was stationed?" And he said "He is coming home today from Kandahar Air Field in Afghanistan.
Folks, let me tell you...I got chill bumps all over. I said "No WAY!" and told him about the Chaplain. This guy said "Hey, my brother knows that guy...said he was from Broken Arrow!" I was just so excited! We talked for a long time and he told me to tell you thank you for all your efforts. He was pretty stunned that we all got flags.
And get this...the guy wasn't even from that town...he was from a town about 45 minutes away! We just happened to meet in a convenience store at the same time! Amazing, huh?

Does anyone else find dead wildlife when they clean house or just me? Well, it has happened. But, not with the regularity with which it seems to happen to you.
One of these days my neighbors are going to come over here and demand to know about these outbursts of laughter from a woman alone.

We also went and visited some people that we just drop in on from time to time...they sell eggs. They didn't have any eggs this time, but they have a huge coop full of chickens and the boys were in absolute heaven. I swear, Joshua carried around a buff Orpington that was about half his size! It was huge! And it just let him carry it around!
We had a "day in the country" sort of day.

Oh NOOOO!! Why didn't I THINK!!
I know the town where he lives...think I could send him a letter "general delivery" or something?
The guy said he was going to Germany first...is this standard procedure, Rosie?

I'm glad to find someone else who likes fresh milk.
