The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Journey to the Cross-roads

The Two Towers Edition

Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

I know... last one before the new thread.

Which is a blessing.... not sure I would want the next one!

You're working hard even in retirement, that's good.

I'm doing fine too, am a happy guy.

We never know what's around the next corner, though, but I suppose that's just another reason to enjoy what we've got.

Good night All.

Oh, btw, I looked at a Kimber 1911 in the local gunshop last week. Liked it, though the thing was a little pricey. Cool though.

Congrats... I was hoping for a third five-of-a-kind, but c'est la vie.

Oh! You're gorgeous! And you have a wonderful looking room too. And a great camera to boot.

Why is it again that you think these helicopters are following you? Are you running around naked in the back yard or something?

ROFL ...... maybe she isn't telling us the whole story....

Ouch... twice? You'd think you'd have gotten the hint after the first one.

Cuisinart is right. Its a completely unsuitable accessory for any aircraft.

I only had two near-misses. One in a CG HH-65 Dolphin landing on the side of one wheel on the deck of the Resolute... *very* nearly (like inches away from) eating up the nonskid deck with the rotor. Another was in a Marine CH-47 that went on a sixty-minute trip around Price William sound with sixty-one minutes of fuel. Both had me P-3 (puckered pretty permanently). I couldn't fart for a week. :-)

Got one. Love it. Yes, its pricier than a Colt, but it shoots better. It would take a good $500 worth of smithing to get the average 1911 or 1991 to shoot as well as an out-of-the-box Kimber. At least that was the salespitch that finally pushed me over the edge... :-) Fortunately, I think it really does happen to be true.

The picture on the wall is actually a framed 16th century manuscript page from one of Luther's writings.

WOW! Now that's something cool!

Ah yes... the CH-46 (or 47 for that matter). Named so because of the 46,000 loose parts all flying in close formation. I really wonder which makes the most noise... the engines? the rotors? or is it all those damn rivets?

Don't forget the camera!

I don't remember osagebowman mentioning axes... I thought it was just a elf bow moot.
