The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Is this simulcast? - you have the photographer talking right now?

Hey everyone! Good to finally be here, what a day! My computer took a crap and of course my husband fixes my machine last; it still isn't complete but I was going through SEVERE withdrawal, so here I am...

A flaming motorcycle crash is in my future before that happens. Personally, I think I'd rather go out in flames than die in a nursing home.... especially with the chance of Alzheimer's. Not many things scare me, but that does.

Wn? You around?

Yes...and I intend to personally keep in touch with the Afghanistan group. But the guys in Iraq are really going on short supply. The guys in Afghanistan don't need stuff...they need support more than stuff. I want to keep helping somebody in Afghanistan, just to let them know they aren't forgotten. I hope "our" Chaplain can give us another contact.
But yes, we should also "adopt" WN's son-in-law, and his platoon. From him, we can get other contacts, unless he plans on keeping all those Arby's packets for his own guys. :)
I think this is a case of, "the spirit is willing, but the checkbook is weak." I know I have to consider my expenses carefully. But I've had a good week on eBay, and I'll dedicate some of that to help our troops, wherever they are. They face death, separation from home, assorted deprivations, and other fun stuff. Our humble efforts at least let them know that complete strangers care, and our humble efforts are more than repaid with their smiles.
They're sacrificing so much for us, the least I can do is take on a bit of financial sacrifice every now and then. I think we become better people for it.

Ain't aint bad for the people in it.
I had a good time at the Alzheimer's home when I was doing visits with Zulu. I was new every time and they never got tired of me!
To: HairOfTheDog
Yes, its simulcast.
I'm multitasking here. Watching both Jaws and the dog show, and loading mp3s back onto my hard drive.

I've got it.
The face is Scott Baio, photoshopped onto that girl. :-)
To: Ramius
I hope you don't think that solves the mystery.
To: HairOfTheDog
But it is... isn't it??? Look at it... that's Chachi.
To: ecurbh
I am puttering around.... I have to go on a little road trip tomorrow.... and leave pretty early.
To: Ramius
Well, there is a resemblance...
To: HairOfTheDog
I'm quite serious, though, that Alzheimer's scares me. I cannot imagine a worse fate than losing your mind so slowly... you know it's happening, you know that every day some memory is gone...
I'd rather go out fast. "If 'twere done when 'tis done, 'twere best done quickly".

But that's just it. It isn't something that is excruciating to *get*, it is something that is excruciating to *watch*.
But I see what you mean. Better to pull off the bandaid quick.
At least I have the luxury of *knowing* how I'm going to go. I'm going to be shot by a firing squad during the revolution. Fairly quick, that. :-)

Was that a
new tractor? Is there some sort of warranty on it? Can we pray for tractors?
As far as the other stuff, post pictures if you want. It was no big deal, just something sitting in a drawer for the last 10-15 years. I'm glad you could give it a home.
