The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Posted on 12/17/2002 7:32:02 AM PST by HairOfTheDog

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!

Journey to the Cross-roads

The Two Towers Edition

Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)

Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

I know a verse to that one:

You took off yer peg leg, yer wig and yer glasses,
You should have seen the look on yer face.
I wanted to kiss you and hug you my darlin',
But you were scattered all over the place.

Where, oh where...

Evening Osage! - Looking forward to the pictures of NC/MO moot!

I am back from having dinner in town.... was pleasant! My apolitical friend has got herself a good man, an attorney for the Building Industry of Washington.... He was tellin' me about a case he currently has up for court on Fri against the Dept of Ecology.... It isn't a case I have heard about before, and it is water rights related.... He's gonna send me the links tomorrow so I can post a thread about it for the farmfriend clan.

From the stories of some of those "powerball" winners, I don't think there was much contentment found there. Do know that the Lord does want us to find enjoyment from "the work of our hands" as the Bible says. Usually when that fulfillment begins to leave a situation and things start feeling "off", it is sometimes a "nudge" to move on.

We are in similar situation, "testing the waters" to see if we are suppose to be looking elsewhere.

Anyway keep you and the others in prayer.

Heh, I know I won't find contentment in winning the Powerball. It's just nice to dream sometimes. I don't play the lottery and figure my chances of winning are just as good.

I can't wait to hear about the gun show moot!

I should dash over and spend the time with Mrsg'nad and kids! I bet all our kids would have a ball!

I can't this week though...Matthew is doing his week-long computer marathon. I swear, he's not been out of the room except Sat. evening when I had to go to the ER and today when I had to go to the doctor. He goes to bed, but I have no idea what time and he takes all his meals in there!

I am amazed.

Depression can be interesting.

I know, I've got a serious case of Black Dog at this particular time.

It's probably good to experience everything at some time in your life.

Dreaming is Ok...winning would be good too. You know the opportunity to say, "You are right, there is no contentment here, but I sure had a good time finding out it wasn't."

I would find contentment in winning the Powerball.

Or any multi-million dollar lottery, for that matter.

Heck, $50,000 or $60,000 wouldn't be too bad.

A Pirate Looks At Forty (Listen - mp3)

Mother, mother ocean, I have heard you call,
Wanted to sail upon your waters
since I was three feet tall.
You've seen it all, you've seen it all.

Watch the men who rode you,
Switch from sails to steam.
And in your belly you hold the treasure
that few have ever seen, most of them dreams,
Most of them dreams.

Yes, I am a pirate two hundred years too late.
The cannons don't thunder there's nothin' to plunder
I'm an over forty victim of fate
Arriving too late, arriving too late.

I've done a bit of smugglin'
I've run my share of grass.
I made enough money to buy Miami,
But I pissed it away so fast,
Never meant to last, never meant to last.

I have been drunk now for over two weeks,
I passed out and I rallied and I sprung a few leaks,
But I've got to stop wishin',
Got to go fishin', I'm down to rock bottom again.
Just a few friends, just a few friends.

I go for younger women, lived with several awhile
And though I ran away, they'll come back one day.
And still could manage a smile
It just takes awhile, just takes awhile.

Mother, mother ocean, after all these years I've found
My occupational hazard being my occupations
just not around.
I feel like I've drowned,
Gonna head uptown.

Heck I would give it a round...I'd like to find out that I can't find contentment in any sum those lotto folks would give me.
