The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

Woo Hoo! I'll was gonna be checking out the Museum website tonight, anyway. A friend just told me about some robot exhibit that our 'engineer' son might enjoy.

Is your mailbox the type that opens from both ends, so you can get the mail from the end away from the road?No - it isn't.... and I would be standing in quite a brambly ditch to do that.... and it wouldn't help me on the 75 yards to get there! Thanks, good tip though.... moving the mailboxes to the store parking lot is my favorite idea yet, short of just ~not getting mail~ heh.

When we went to the Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville AL a few years ago, SSQ and all the kids climbed up and stood in the tail end of a Saturn V rocket that was laying down in the 'back 40' of the Museum. It was a GREAT picture!!
To: HairOfTheDog
I can do that, but can I also include the sound?

Those kids weren't old enough to be there. at least without having the parent's attention. Why did the parents even bother bringing the kids if they weren't intending to talk to the kids about the artwork, anyway? No wonder the kids were running around like hellions, they were probably bored stiff!

Hullo... I'm busy getting yelled at for picking the wrong thread on which to bitch about how Amber Alerts have become totally screwed up.
Now I'm in damage-control mode.
Sheesh... I've been chatting in BBS's and web forums way to long to make a rookie move like this. [sigh]

All I do is rinse them well, dip them in flour, dip them in an egg/milk mixture, then dip them in the flour again and deep fry till golden. Eat 'em hot!Do you make your own version of "11 herbs and spices" to flavor them? One of my older brothers is an awesome cook, and he figured out the 'Colonel's recipe' once, or at least close enough where you can't tell the difference!!

Did you have a happy birthday?

bet your son would have fun camping. A nice long outdoor adventure with no limits on climbing, swimming, digging, chasing and getting dirty? The best thing about camping is that you can just hose the kids down at the end of the day and throw them in a sleeping bag!

Why did the parents even bother bringing the kids if they weren't intending to talk to the kids about the artwork, anyway?I'm wondering how many kids at single digit ages would actually have a long enough attention span for a large exhibit. Maybe a few paintings but not a hundred or so.

I don't expect to be the same after seeing that movie. That's why I think it will be so much more powerful in the Aramaic and HebrewI agree completely! We know what is being said, so hearing it as Jesus and His mother, disciples, and friends heard it will be stunning. Judging by the trailer, I'm gonna need a whole box of Kleenex! I'll also have to take some Tylenol before I go so I won't come out with a splitting headache from the crying!

After Luke's uh...er...performance at the restaurant yesterday, I was lookin' fer the duct tape. (we brought lunch home instead...)

Did you have a happy birthday? Yes! Did the airshow, and y'all saw the pics. Was a great day even IF the guys at McChord have a few things to learn about traffic management.
...AND: Got a copy of TREASON from HOTD, and a NEW Deere lawn mower from Dad! Woohoo! Something with a picture of Ann Coulter on it (which we all know is the most important part) AND big green thing with the words "John Deere" on it. Does life in fact *get* any better than this? :-)
