The Hobbit Hole III - Journey to the Cross-roads!

Welcome to The Hobbit Hole!
Journey to the Cross-roads
The Two Towers Edition
Come on! Come in! -if you would like to have some seedcakes and a pint and relax a while. (If it is a special occasion, we still have a few bottles of the old wineyards left!)
Our first thread ( New Zealander builds Hobbit hole ) reached 4,100 posts, and we thought that was big. Our second thread (The New Hobbit Hole ) held us for over 48,000 posts, and we loved it dearly. We talked about moving to a new thread for the last 38,000 posts, but we are really slow to muster! Finally, the time has come. Tomorrow (at 12:01 am, to be precise!) The Two Towers comes out, and we start a new chapter.

But it wasn't my trauma.... I only saw it! - Actually, seeing it was worse than being in it. They never felt a thing. I am also a hyper alert driver now, but I have a lot more confidence that I won't hit something than I have that I won't be hit. Seeing those two long before they got hit, and stopping but not being able to stop it, I now think no one but me pays attention. Maybe that is the root of the phobia. I am a nervous passenger, when I see people or animals near the road and my driver doesn't slow down, or slow down enough.

I would like to have the mailboxes moved, but I think I would have to have the agreement of everyone else in that stop, about 10 boxes, and I haven't asked them..... I would like to have it in the store parking lot, that would be safer for the mailman too, and the people who have to cross the road to get their mail now [shudder].

Were you silly enough to pass? Probably not. The instructor is a pinch hitter (got the call Friday nite) and is totally off stride. And I think I irritated him when I pointed out both he and the book's worksheet were wrong. *sigh* I just can't keep my mouth shut.
But ultimately the class is silly and it lasts until Thursday.

Sure it was your trauma too. You've told us about that helpless feeling of not being able to do anything. Just watching as it all happened. That's very traumatic. And I don't think it's as straightforward to overcome as just getting back on your horse when you fall because you can't repeat the situation and make the thing not happen again. You don't have control. You just have to readjust.
(note to self: DON'T drive Hair around at Entmoot, she wants to ride with someone else.)

Can you sneak in a good book to read? No, but he invited us to bring laptops. So I think I'll do that. Got a few good mindless games like solitaire on it. ;P
To: Lil'freeper
Course, you can always put a book on that too.

Not wired. I think we're lucky to have bathrooms and electricity. Not all of the Army is high-tech.
